Help GPS problem/Kies problem

What is this Kies software?
It's Samsung's sync'ing software for Outlook, email, music, etc. It also provides access to their apps store, but not for US customers.... yet. That being said, I don't think I've got a need for it anymore now that the home & car dock apps as well as the office app suite are all available in the market.

It definately runs as a 32 bit app but it installed for me no problems.

Regarding GPS, I went into Settings/Privacy, turned on Use my location, then went to Location and security and turned on use wireless networks. Instant fix. I opened maps and it grabbed my location right away.

Kies - Software & Manuals - Support - Samsung Mobile India says it's 64bit compatible and thats the same site as the link I gave you.

If I remember I had to run the .exe manually but again, it isntalled.

I must be blind...I went to that site, and I just do not see a download link for KIES.

I had Kies running on Win7 64bit. Uninstalled it the next day, its worthless. Especially if you sync your contacts using your Google account. It doesn't even see contacts that are from a Google account. Also the Samsung App Store isn't available in the U.S. yet... fail.

I have used GPS recievers for many years. They all need a good view of the sky. It's a very week signal from the satellites so any obstructions will reduce reception. Rembering that, I have had very good results from my Galaxy S, especially when using Navigator. Incidentally, some cars have windscreens that block the satellite signal, so check that out.
As for Kies, don't bother with it. use Windows Explorer instead. Much quicker and easier.

Well, I have just spent an hour downloading the brand new Kies. It still takes ages to wake up and then will not connect to my Galaxy S. Uninstall and save memory space.
I have Windows XP.
