Root GR 9 Out now 2.3.3

yeah id also like to know what you think if this. im more than happy with what im running on my cappy right now, but lets see where this goes

This is where having a test cappy comes in handy.
Feels stable
Swype works
Home buttons work
Camera works
browser works
When you go into the app drawer you can see your wallpaper, you can also set your lock screen wallpaper.

Wifi works
havent tested GPS
So far i dont have any force closes but i havent put my sim card in it yet.

Has a great stock feel to it.
Very fast and efficient.

So far Apex and GR 9 are the only ginger roms i have tested out
I think i prefer apex since it has twlauncher 4 which i believe is the 4d scrolling app drawer.

These definetly feel like there ready for everyday use.

well i just finished flashing GR 10(it appears, its already been updated to 10, since the first post...that was fast)

flashed it without a problem, and it seems to be running flawlessly. really liking the theme, and the tweaks on it. running blazing fast, got all my TiBu apps+date restore with no problem.

wifi and gps both seem to be working just fine, feels stable to me. unlike wretchedhorror, i DO have my sim installed, and still no problems. no noticable bugs, nor force closes. im satisfied. has a nice touch.

still experimenting with things, making sure all features are in order and working.

i went to gr9 and an hour later 10 came out so i went to it. i like it alot, havent had much time to play around with it but everything seems to be working fine

am on serendipity now, should I restore to stock rom first of can I odin immediately? I have long forgot the flashing process until I saw this awesome rom from my favorite developer,
how to get to the download mode? isn't 3 buttons takes you directly to recovery mode?
tia

i didnt flash stock, i went from supernova

from serendipity you can hold the power button and select download mode and it will boot into it

do steps 1-6 on xda, once it reboots to get into download mode i held down+power button to get into it, its different for the international version and it took me forever to get into download because of that

the more i use it the more i love it, it was quite slow right after i installed, not real bad but somewhat. i ran tibu and restored all my stuff, rebooted into recovery and cleared both cache and dalvik cache, not sure if that was necessary, but after that its been running great since. i never had a real gps problem but its better now than it ever was. i was somewhat nervous changing bootloaders as hardbricks are possible but just be careful and you should be fine

thanks, so its still best to do the one-click odin back to stock 2.1 before apply the odin 3? or its not necessary?

i would have done it but for some reason it just slipped my mind, it only takes a few minutes and its always better to in my opinion

what do you think is the best ginger rom now for cappy? there is another light weight SubPreSSion with 7 lockscreens (what are these 7 lockscreens?), what do you think?
btw looks like all ginger roms have the same kernel and bootloader (am I correct?) so we can just change rom to test via cwm only, am I right? thanks again

once you get the new bootloaders you can switch between all the roms, excluding cyanogen and miui i think, by just flashing it like any other rom. this is the only 2.3.3 rom ive tried, except cyanogen but that was awhile back, but i really like the dev so i try to stay with his stuff, i nearly went to perception II but its home button haptic feedback doesnt work. it also has one thing ive wanted forever, the rotary lockscreen putting the phone in vibrate instead of silent. when i saw those 2 things my mind was made up

thanks pal, just done flashing the GR-10, now charging the battery up to full to reset battery at CWM, hows your battery life compare to Serendipity?

ive been on mine for several days now, also recalibrated my batter after flashing, and im seeing AT LEAST as good battery life as i was getting on serendipity 6.4, that i was on previously. mines lasting about as long as crimsons, sometimes even longer when i dont use it as much, obviously.

Check your google maps multi-touch rotation. Tell me if it's screwed up. I had to flash a fix to get mine to work. (Don't flash this if it's working!!). []xda-developers - View Single Post - [kernel][ginger] I9000 reoriented vG.1.1 04.25.2011. Also check your compass sensor accuracy, because a few folks have had issues with this as well.

One *definite* bug that's been confirmed is that Setting "About Phone" will force-close if any keyboard other than Swype or Samsung is select.

Other than these things (one of which I've fixed), I have no complaints. It works great. Still testing the battery.. so far it's been as good as Serendipity though.

One thing I highly recommend for Gingerbread flashing is a USB jig. It's just insurance in case something goes wrong. Either make it yourself (if you have skillz), or buy from MobileTech for $8 (shipping included). I had some issues, but am so glad I had the foresight to buy one of these.

yeah all was well until today. now GR10 is lagging CRAZY, i cant do anything its horrible. it freezes and everything. yeahh **** this. flashing back to serendipity lol.

This is madness gr 11 is out now...
9 and ten worked great..just flashed 11 on the test phone and it seemed like I entered force close city..ill stay on ten on my primary for now...
