granfathered $25/month plan

I have the $25 /mo plan with my Samsung Intercept. I am debating on changing phones to a Triumph. Waiting on the smoke to clear re. whether the phone is okay or not. It appears the rash of new phone troubles has settled down. So I about ready to move

But (there is always a "but")

The clerk at an independent Virgin Mobile phone store told me I can't change phones without losing the rate. ("They won't let us do that")

Can anyone confirm or disprove his words??

He's wrong. I had a grandfathered plan (which I bought just before the Triumph came out on purpose) and put the Triumph on it. No problems.

I had the optimus v with the $25 plan and transferred the phone # to the triumph a few months ago when the phone came out.

I got the Triumph 1 day before the price change. (from $25 to $35) The Best Buy salesman was SURE that after 1 month my rate would change. He said a VM rep visited the store recently and said so. Well, I got the phone anyway, 1 day before the rate change. So far, more than 2 months later, my rate is still $25/month. :)

Or until you change plans.
If you go to the $45 plan from a $25 plan and then want to switch back, you'll have to pay $35 from then on.

I actually had to switch from the Curve ($10 more a month) to my old Shuttle, and I thought I was going to be stuck at $35, but even after switching again to the Triumph I'm still at $25.

and the official reply, confirming what you guys told me:

"Hello Tom,

Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

These changes will only affect new activations and plan changes in our system. Therefore, if you swap your phone, you will stay with your current Beyond Talk plan price and your monthly fee will not change.

You will be grandfathered as long as you don't change plan or let your account expire (120 days without activity).

Thanks guys

from the quotation marks to the end (where I forgot the close quotes) was cut and paste from their email reply. They really said that.

As we all know, the future is changeable. you may be right about "next year"

As a monthly prepaid plan you can leave any time you want and they can change prices. Of course if they do they risk losing the customers.

Postpaid contact plans are a two-edged sword. You don't get the benefit of decreased prices but you don't get reamed on increased ones either.

I had an intercept on a $25 month plan, bought a Triumph and kept the $25 plan, later I ported a number in from another carrier and they had to close my old account and give me a new account to use the porte dnumber, and I *still* got the $25 a month plan.

Well, I can confirm that it works... Using it just fine. I don't know if this is the place to post this, but: Would you be interested in buying my Triumph? Anybody? I'm switching to H2o. I've only used about 300 mbs this month on Virgin, but more minutes than I had on the 25$ plan. By the time I switch to the $45, I may as well go with h20 and get better coverage  The phone is "new"... having recently gotten a refurb from Virgin mobile for coverage issues. lemme know if interested.

I upgraded from the intercept 3 weeks ago, which was after the change as you know, and it did not affect may 25$ per month. You will not regret the upgrade, it is amazing

I am on the 25.00 plan and still only pay 25.00 a month! Its sweet and I upgraded the phone to the Triumph three months ago.
