great car mount

I have tried Bracketron's Mi-T grip and their vent grip. I also tried the Mountek N groove cd mount, but none work for my '05 HIghlander, The vents are located in an odd spot, the suction cup doesn't stick to anything and the cd mount blocks the view of my heat/a/c and my radio. Can anyone recommend a practical solution? I need something solid that will not shake and a mount that I can take from vehicle to vehicle.

I bought this for around $5. It sticks to the windscreen - not sure if that fits your requirements however, from the picture there appears to be space ..

It's also small enough to be easily transferred between vehicles, but cheap enough that you could probably afford to buy one for each :)

I bought this and it takes Hulk strength to open. I don't reccomend this but it is cheap.

I ended up opening the clasps and sticking a sim card in there to keep it already partly open so I could just stick my phone in there and it still be snug.

Really?

I don't have that issue. I guess quality may be variable - for $5, who'd have thought?

Oh I wasn't expecting much. I've gone through about 10 different types trying to find one I like.

I was just surprise how hard it was to pull it apart. I don't like the thought of using my phone to force those sides open. Call me picky but I don't want a 5 dollar part to be the cause of my back glass breaking. Ohhh id be hot.

I like it. But how much pressure is under the expandable clasps? Does it take a good amount of force to push it open?

And does it not have the option to windshield mount it?
The mount doesn't take too much force to open; as you can see, I'm using one hand, and it is strong enough to hold the phone even if you hit a bump.

The sticky dash mount I posted can also be used on the windshield, but they do have windshield only options.
