GS3 Case discussion thread

I don't like hiding the phone in a new back, but want it protected. So I use a SENA ultrafine leather case. Really slim and looks great, plus you take the phone out to use. For me that is the best of both worlds. Just my opinion.

I have an Incipio case on my DX that I love. According to their website you get a screen protector with their cases. Does anyone know if these screen protectors are any good? Or what screen protector do you all recommend?

I'm also looking forward to the otterbox. In the mean time, I bought a $5 case from amazon and a skinomi tech screen protector. They both fit perfect. However, they don't fit perfect together. The case pushes up the edges of my screen protector. So, until otterbox is available my screen looks crappy, but what are you gonna do?

Just recieved an Incipio Feather Case for my GS3, Great fit and quality, came with screen savers (Not fitted yet), squeegee and microfibre cloth.:) had a Casemate Barely there, but it just wouldn`t fit properly:confused:, so got the Incipio.:)

I just ordered the Speck Candyshell. I figured I'd try it out.
I currently have an Otterbox Commuter on my DX and have been pretty happy with it.

Not really, it's just a metal battery door, it's not an entire case, plus the edges are plastic. People on xda bought similar battery doors for their S2's and experienced no problems whatsoever. Even said the aluminum helped dissipate heat and keep the phone cooler and possibly even enhanced signal a little. On a side note, most HTC phones are mostly made of metal and work perfectly fine.

I bought the metal replacement battery cover from eBay and unfortunately it does seem to block at least some signal, at least with the NFC. S-Beam does not work with the metal back on, it works just fine with the regular cover but not with the metal unfortunately. Looks great but doesn't work fully LOL!

Great thread!

Hey I have question about the OtterBox Defender Case. Being that it's not out yet it may be hard to tell but from the pictures below does the Defender Case back section where the logo and above is this hard plastic (polycarbonate)? The description indicates the outter as being silicone but it looks exactly the same as the polycarbonate outter of the Commuter.

The reason I'm asking is because I want to also purchase a Textra XWay mount for an auto dash install and the metal button that sticks to the back of the phone should be applied to a good surface (hence not the silicone).

Thanks kindly.

Based on my experience with Otterbox ( I have both the Commuter and Defender for my Nexus1), the Defender series has the rubber/silicone on the outside. So the first layer will encase the phone with plastic (including a clear plastic screen protector), and then the rubber wraps outside the plastic case.

When you get the Commuter series, the first layer that wraps the phone is rubber/silicone, and then a plastic body wraps around the rubber.

Hope this helps.

Pressing the power on the Commuter is hard! Seriously...

On the Commuter there is no built-in screen protector like the Defender. But, there is a screen protector in the packaging. I never use those provided with the case...

It does come with a shield for the front also correct? Or is that just a screen protector that I'm looking at.

Yeah, I don't either. My favorite screen protector has been BodyGuardz for a long time. It's a wet mount screen protector, and I'm a loyal BG customer.

I ordered a diztronic a few days ago. It was projected that I would get the shipment on june 2nd. Not that it mattered since I dont have the phone yet lol. but i got the case in the mail today. Pretty cool case.

I've praised Seidio before, but here's a pic to truly show is slimness. The case thickness is actually what you see at the corner of this pic, based on the part that is against the ruler, I think it's fair to say that this is about a 1 mm case.

There is felt inside this also. Also, the Seidio website doesn't do it justice, but the real beauty is the holster in which phone snaps into an out off with one hand, rather than slide in operation of the Verizon type and even the holster allows access to all the ports. And trust me, the 2 halves will not accidentally come apart

This is from my rezound. Those are 1 mm lines. I could post pics when it arrives, but the video really does show it best

I reread this post, and I thought of something else. I don't know how good a surface you're going to get on the back of the OB Commuter. It's not mirror smooth on the back which would be the ultimate for a stick on button. It might be smooth enough, but the back of the Commuter is textured.

Of course, I think you have the same problem with any phone case, but in this case I think that a Seidio with it's soft texture polymer would actually get you the smoothest surface to stick an adhesive on.

I notice that the case that I want, the Active Combo, is still in a Coming Soon state.

I wonder if i can pre-order it with the discount ???

~~EDIT~~ That would be a negative because you can't even add the item to a cart.
