GS3 Case discussion thread

I received this yesterday:
Amazon.com: Acase Samsung Galaxy S3 Case - Superleggera PRO Dual Layer Protection (Black/Black) (Fits AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon): Cell Phones & Accessories
A few comments for those who are interested in it about things I was wondering before receiving the case:
The side buttons are covered by silicone, but because there seems to be a little bit of space under the silicone rather than resting directly on the button, it prevents accidental button presses I was worried about (and I like it even more because I was accidentally hitting the power button without a case). The silicone portion is a little bit of a dust/lint attractor, but not as terribly as some other silicone products I've seen. The polycarbonate portion of the case has the rubberized feel that so many other things are using these days. The cutout for the audio jack is maybe 1-2mm larger all around than than the jack itself, so I haven't had any problems plugging anything in so far.

My phone came today and I put the Superlegerra on it after receiving it last week, and it's a nice case. Well worth the $12. The rubber that covers the buttons is sweet. They push easy and are also easy to find without looking. I am as happy with this case as I thought I would be.

I agree, the one I have definitely leaves the ends exposed. Which I'm cool with. But I'm finding it makes the power and volume buttons a little hard to push, and makes it too easy to accidentally hit the haptic buttons on the face. May have to look at a clear TPU case if one is ever found......

Besides, aren't they the country that MADE your phone? ;):D

samsung phones are manufactured in south korea ;)

after reading through this thread completely from start to finish (phew) i think im settled on the incipio dualpro shine. im a sucker for brushed aluminum, even if it just looks like it is :D well, at least once i order the phone itself... ill also have to pick up one of each of those gameboy and cassette tape cases for fun. and to whoever made that remark about being under 20, im 19 and i think theyre awesome :p

Be forewarned, I've read a couple of posts at XDA claiming that at least the Feather Shine variant causes issues with wi-fi signal, not sure if this can be said for the Dual Pro version. Keep us posted whatever you find out, I definitely love Incipio products.

I currently have the Silicrylic DualPro on my S3. Wifi works fine. It's a nice case, reminds me of the OB Commuter I had on my DINC, with less bulk. -Edit mine is the nonmetallic version, not the shine version.

Does anyone have the Seidio Surface case by chance? If so, what is your opinion on it? ~Thanks

I had it, and also their Convert (goes on the Surface case) on my Atrix. I really liked it. I got the Convert because I like the extra protection..

I've got the Surface for my S3. It fits nice, looks great and doesn't add much bulk. I've been anxiously waiting for the Convert to be available.
...just saw that the Converts available finally, off to order it.

I ended up going with the Seidio Active holster.

If you are considering this case, do not hesitate. It is absolutely GREAT quality and it actually reminds me of the otterbox I wrapped my daughter's iphone in.

I'm 100% satisfied with this case.

I ordered the Seidio Active with kickstand (no holster) today in Garnet Red and it's been shipped. Here it is for any latecomers to the thread:

Seidio Active w/kickstand (Garnet Red)

Seidio Active w/kickstand (Royal Blue version)

I had a black Otterbox Commuter for my previous DX. That was an excellent case but I wanted something a little different this time.

Funny my SIII is says made in china on the box.

Actually considering some sort of case or cover this time. I'm not particularly concerned about protecting the phone as much as just making it easier to grip. After a little while of handling its like trying to hold a wet bar of soap in your hands.

i think i read somewhere the finish is just plastic made to look like aluminum or its aluminum plated? if thats even possible... i really hope there arent any problems. ive spent SO much time looking at cases over the past couple days, my head is spinning

well, they should be made in korea. i even did a bit of googling to make sure. maybe only the international ones are

I work outside at a golf course (summer job), so I'm looking for a really heavy duty case to use just a work in order to prevent dust and dirt from getting into and all over my phone (like it did with my Dinc). The Otterbox Defender seems like what I'm looking for. $50 is a ridiculous price to pay for a case, but I really need that absolute protection or else my phone WILL get really dirty. I'm also willing to pay that much since I don't think I'll use another case. When I'm home, I'll just leave it out of the case since I don't think anything is really gonna happen to the phone. If I feel like the phone is really fragile when I get it, I'll just pick up one of those Diztronic matte back cases.

Is the Otterbox Defender worth it, or is there a better alternative that can offer absolute protection?

Personally i hate Defender cases. Why would you want the silicone on the outside? I always recommend the Trident Kraken for those that want ultimate protection.

hows the fit with the dualpro? like say, is there room for a full body phantomskinz (or similar product) application within the silicone sleeve? i was thinking of a liquipel+phantomskinz+dualpro setup...

and i might just go with the turquoise dualpro from t-mo, since thats my carrier, and it would probably match the pebble phone better

I do like the Active Garnet and I like the idea of the kickstand..does it add much bulk to the phone? I was looking at the Seidio Surface, but still undecided. Thanks

There's plenty of room. Too much if you ask me. I found that the silicone would move around and mess up my screen protector. The hard shell serves no purpose as well as it doesn't protect the sides, top or bottom only the corners. I fully believe a TPU case would be more effective.

Also, it's crazy how sensitive the volume rocker is with it. It got so annoying having to change the volume everytime I used it.

thanks for the heads up. maybe a skin would make the silicone fit snugly... and i guess i can return it if i run into the same issues

How much thicker/heavier does this make your phone? I have the defender series coming for my phone but i've always used them for a week and took them off because they make my phone to bulky and/or heavy.

How does it fit, feel and the color blue (is it true to the picture etc.)...kind of an overall opinion. Thanks again!

I have the black. It's kind of like a soft rubber. It's very easy to hold, yet slides ou of your pocket easily. Does not attract any lint, truly 1 mm thin. Rather than feel like a phone in a case, it feels like more part part of the phone as if it's all one, solid phone.

Check out this post and pic of the thickness.

Now that more and more people are getting their phones in the US, I'd be interested in hearing about what colors of cases look good with the Pebble Blue color. I like that color really well, but don't know about combining it with a colored case. Anyone found a case that looks good with it?
