GS3 Case discussion thread

Anybody have a good recommendation for a case for the blue version? I want something fairly minimal (not bulky) and I'd prefer something "clearer" to let the blue show through. Most cases I'm seeing only show what it looks like in white, which doesn't help me :) Thanks!

Jazz, I had the same requirements and after looking at what seems like 200 different ones, this one looks pretty minimal (but still protects screen somewhat when lying flat, facedown) and also LOOKS clear from the pictures shown. I do NOT have it yet (should arrive today with my new S3) so I can't say for sure how clear it truly is.

Review after receiving:
I received both the phone and the case yesterday and am extremely disappointed...I do NOT recommend this case at all. Description said it was a clear case, it is NOT...the sides are, but the most important part, the back is not. It is the frosted clear (so not really clear) and makes the back of the phone look more gray than blue. Additionally the cut outs for the camera, microphone (both on back and bottom), and the headphone jack do not line up all that well. Not horrible, but not good enough for my taste.

The pictures and description on Amazon do not portray this case accurately.

Does ANYONE make a clear backed case that is the soft material? Not interested in that hard case plastic.

My Elago navy case looks so sexy on my blue phone it oughta be illegal!! The case is the exact same color as the box, FYI. I'll try to post pics of it soon.

I got the Candyshell in a gray color yesterday at the AT&T store and glad I did. I had purchased the Body Glove along with the Moshi screen protector. The AT&T agent asked if I would like her to install both. I said sure. She put on the screen protector without incident. When putting on the Body Glove is kept pinching the screen protector and it would not lie flat on the edges. We then tried the Speck Candyshell case and it worked fine. I get corporate discounts so the prices were not too much over the internet pricing. At least I avoided the frustration of of these items not working together on the SG3. Also the Moshi eliminates fingerprints.

Glad to hear, as I ordered a Candyshell in light gray over the weekend.

I WAS actually going to buy that case...isn't call blue jean or denim color. Looks like it is close to the same color as the phone. Is that what you meant by same color as the box (the phone)??? Definitely post pictures once you have it on as I may still end up ordering this case. Details, please.

The guys over at diztronic.com just added a Matte Dark Blue case to the line up for those of us with pebble blue phones. Check it out. I just ordered mine!

Diztronic offers the best tpu cases I've ever used. Cheap too!

Mine is mesh vent black on white phone...it looks great.
I like how it doesnt get at all bulky and retains its nice profile...

I have the hybrid iMagnum flip case from Piel Frama in black and it's awesome. I also have the Sena Corsa pull case and it's also nice. But Piel Frama wins the prize.

Doh! Wish they would have released that sooner.

Got my phone today. Here are some pics of the pebble blue & Clear Matte Androidified A2 CruzerLite TPU Case

Im real happy with it. It's TPU and it's not a 100% clear case. I like the greyish/smoke color to it which compliments the pebble blue well

Sorry for the landscape pics. I thought I fixed that in Photobucket.

I received my S3 today and as the reviews stated on the Cruzerlite Androidfied cases. The cutouts are uneven and don't align properly. I can't plug in the usb unless I remove the case. I am unhappy with these cases.

Cool - thanks! If you could post a little feedback, or better yet a picture, when you have a chance, that would be great!

Very happy with that Diztronic case. I have a clear one to match my white s3.

Worth every $ imo.

Hate to say it, jazztalker has a point :)

Most clear cases I have seen have either not offered enough protection or defeat the purpose of having a clear case (i.e. inability to clearly see the back of the phone).

Please sent the pics when you have a chance!

The two S-Line cases I bought off ebay for $1.85 each with free shipping are not horrible. But you get what you pay for...

The translucent blue one fits OK, but the phone's camera, speaker, and flash aren't centered in the case's cutouts. The noise cancellation microphone is a bit off-center as well. The case is a bit more of a neon blue than I was hoping for, and I'm not really digging the splotches under the clear portions of the case. You know, where the case sticks to the phone... I really like the covered buttons, though, which help prevent accidental presses. It also seems like covered buttons would help keep the phone a bit more clean over time, as dust and debris wouldn't accumulate in their crevasses.

The black case fits, but its holes don't match up well enough to the phone to be of much use. It does look better to me, but that's simply because it's not translucent. And both cases are a bit too thick near the microUSB port to easily plug the phone in. Not impossible, just difficult.

The one thing I learned from these two cases is that I like matte TPU. I like the way it feels, it seems to hide fingerprints well, and it seems it would hold up well over time. I feel strongly enough about this I ordered one of those matte blue Ditztronic cases. I'd really like covered buttons, so I'll keep my eyes open for other similar cases with this feature.

As for the hybrid case I got off ebay, the seller refunded my money and is now bugging me to change my rating. Time to be honest: the case doesn't seem to be metal, it's very difficult to get the phone into, the cutouts don't match up well enough with the phone, and the silicone lining is too "grabby." Overall, I doubt I'll ever use this case, so it's a good thing they refunded my money.

In conclusion, it looks like I'm going to end up being a case where. :-D

The one thing that spoiled this case for me was the apparent lack of protection on the top and bottom of the phone. The edges are exposed. Otherwise it's a beautiful looking case for the blue.

It matches the blue so perfectly it's almost invisible. I got a second cover, a gray carbon fiber looking one, and I took it off as soon as I put it on - looked awful after seeing this one! I haven't gotten a good enough pic yet, will try today. I think I need a light colored background for it to show up right.
