GS3 Case discussion thread

The Seidio Surface case and Holster available for (pre) order. They usually have sales several times a year for 15% off and free shipping, but I think I want to have it all ready to wrap up my new toy when it comes. Only the black is currently available.

To those unfamiliar. The Surface case is probably about as thin as I've seen, maybe even thinner than silicone cases. The holster, if you chose, has a great Swivel clip that holds on well, from my jeans to my light weight scrubs, and allows a very easy yet secure one hand operation.

I know everyone has their favorite case. But if you're not set on a specific one yet you may want to give this a look.

personally, i'll get a TPU case for the time being, and i'll wait for the Speck Cases...

Speck Cases for the Samsung Galaxy S3 | Speck Products

love their stuff, had one for my Incredible, and always love the look of the iphone cases they make.

+1

My wife's iPhone has a Speck Candyshell. She left the phone on top of her car, drove away, and found it hours later in the middle of the road. Not a scratch on the phone. That case is bad. Ass.

I have used Seidio cases with the soft inner piece, and the hard shell exterior. Always protects well except for one achilles heel. I dropped my Incredible and it landed perfectly flat on the face where there was just the soft protection. Cracked the screen.

I'm going with Speck for sure. $600 to replace is just too expensive to skimp on a $2 case.

I can't find any case local to me (Atlanta, Kennesaw - GA).

Seriously, I have to order something online? This device is so slippery...

I just ordered a Commuter from Otterbox. It will probably be here in a week!

let me know how that is when u get it cause i like otterboxes but it is anything like the iphone otterboxes i may not like it on my s3 cause i could never get my phone out of my pocket last time i got an otterbox!

Every phone I ve owned I have had a case mate tough case for it. They are awesome cases, thin yet tons of protection. Just got my black tough case mate for my s3

Ya I am going to be getting a black case-mate. I bought a pack of those screen protector slips when I pre-ordered my sg3. So I will be adding that to it as well.

Loved otterbox cases on my past phones. (work construction and have a 5 yr old)

I dropped my evo from ~40' onto concrete and it didnt damage the phone at all, but did put a small crack in the kickstand. (which otterbox covered)

This OB defender in glacier will be the case I will use 90% of the time for my blue gs3. It looks awesome and will be great for a good night of drinking, working, or letting my kid run wild with my phone.

I do need to still find a nice slim case for certain occasions though.

Seems a bit thick for my personal taste. I like thin.

The advantage of the case that you posted over the Case-mate one, is that it covers the edge all the way around. Where at the case-mate one seams to leave the top of the phone and bottom of the phone's edges open.

I just don't like that line going through the back. But I am still going to prob get it lol

The Seidio is completely lint free. I can't explain it but it is grippy yet feels smooth. I always use the holster. As i mentioned in a different post, the clip hold on well from my jeans and belt to my thin scrubs, with easy one hand on/off holster operation.

While that line on the back seems odd, the two halves slip together well and snug. I can't explain, but trust me it works and is as thin as any case I've seen. If the S3 is anything like the Nexus it seems that a snap on case will yank the back cover off

I'm not a holster person, so I don't really care about that stuff. But the lint free and grippy smooth part is very appealing. I think you convinced me lol.

The tough case from case mate covers all of the phone with openings only for charging port and headphone jack. All the corners and outside of the phone are covered with the tough case. The case is really thin and awesome..

Ya i hear ya. It does look like a great case. It's in 2nd place for me right now. The Seidio-Surface has it covered and protected all the way around. I am sure the case-mate isnt any less prone to damage, but it's just a bit more reassuring that the other one covers it all.

+1 for anything Seidio. Active for more rugged, Surface for thin. The best part is the holster.

Exactly! I always have a number of cases for different occasions. And since I'll have this phone, when I get my 32GB, for almost two years, I have many cases. lol. And the holster is a must with the Seidio.
