{GSM}EVO 3D ICS update

If you want to stay rooted, it is usually a good idea to skip the OTA update and wait for the 'safe' version of the ROM to be made available. If HTC messed with the bootloader, you may not be able to root again easily. (assuming of course that you didn't root using HTC DEV)

So is the root causing problem or what

Hi guys, I've just updated my Evo 3d to the gsm Official ICS update, but i'm experiencing problems :(

My Messages app won't load. When I click on it, it shows the recent messages screen but theres a notice saying "Please wait" and a loading symbol, and i'm not able to click on any of my messages or compose new ones

I've left it on this screen for half an hour but the "Please Wait" and the loading symbol doesn't go away. It's probably because I have lots of messages stored on the phone, but this didn't seem to be a problem before the update

I don't know what to do because I can't send or access any messages, and I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thank you

Is it an ICS friendly app? Perhaps it needs an update, I use Go SMS and that's working fine.

I love ICS on my Evo, no problems so far and I love all the changes and improvements, especially the dock on the bottom of the screen, I won't miss the big HTC Phone widget that I rarely used.

I'm liking the new sleeker look that ICS brings. I was disappointed that HTC didn't give us sense 4.0, making up some rubbish about our phone not being capable of handling it- when it clearly is!

I downloaded this skin from the play store though and it's brilliant

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.skin.szp_sade&hl=en

it gives us the chance to have the sense 4.0 interface, with the much nicer and sleeker clock widget :D

Aside from the updated interface and face unlock feature, can someone tell me what else is new with ICS? I want to try out the new features but don't quite know what they are

Has anyone else's Evo 3D had this problem? I'll be reading something on my phone and the screen will go very dim. It happens on all display settings (auto brightness, low / high brightness).

It's getting really annoying because I love reading on my Evo 3D.

I just did the update and after a few reboots I am seeing no change? My software information says:

Android version
2.3.4

HTC Sense Version
3.0

Software number
2.08.651.3

I'm fully stock, not rooted at all, is this normal?

p.s. Heading to work can't answer for a bit

It should have rebooted on its own after the update was finished...maybe you just downloaded it and never actually ran the install.

What it did was reboot to the green update icon twice, then shut down, seemingly for good, after 5 minutes of it being simply off, i turned it back on. I've done that twice now, and nothing has changed even though a,wndow did popup saying congratulations, you've successfully updated...with nothing actually changing and the update still there to download yet again.
When I get home Ill do a complete wipe first and try again...

I updated 2day to 4.0.3 successfully and everything seams to work

However I can't find facebook for HTC sense in the accounts settings and normal facebook isn't syncing profile pictures properly

Also in the web browser I can no longer pinch out to minimise windows

Has anyone else had any problems with this? I was going to start a new thread, but this seems as good as place as any (hope that's OK)

Since updating to ICS this morning, every few minutes I get a text message from the number "50", and all that's contained in it is "01403" (which happens to be the area code I'm in at the moment). The phone constantly notified me of these messages, and it's driving me crazy!

I've rebooted, uninstalled GoSMS Pro...next step is looking like a factory reset.

My phone updated to Android 4.0.3/HTC Sense 3.6 this morning, and while I'm still not sure if I like the new interface I'm hoping it will fix some of the issues I was having before.

My problem at the moment is I'd like to delete a bunch of the extra "junk" apps that are on there. Major one is Facebook/FB Chat etc but there are others too. How do I delete this crap without rooting? Theres so much junk that will run on its own and restart and such.

I've had some issues with my battery, but usually when something in the OS goes haywire and eats it up. The battery use list seems to be different now.

Not only that, but my phone as a whole is slower since the update and apps lag so much, I was shocked to see how long things take to load now. Not a happy camper!

Any advice? I'd really like it to be at least the speed it was before the update this morning. And it seems impossible to search anything to do with facebook and removing it, so sorry if there is something somewhere.

is there a "Will the Evo 3d be getting Jellybean" thread yet? Now that ICS is FINALLY out of the way, I want to keep an eye out for any news about JB, and whether HTC not releasing an official update for JB will mean that I will finally have to get over my fears and try and learn how to root the phone :/

I read another thread where someone who had the update http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/570820-need-help-rooting-my-htc-evo-3d.html) was asking about rooting it and they were directed to the rooting thread. Does this mean people have successfully rooted after the update then, or is this not the same update?
Im asking as I cant see a 'safe ROM' yet.

i would like to know this also. I did the OTA update for ICS, but now I want jellybean and would like to know if there is a way to root the phone from ICS yet
