[Guide] Android on your HD2 from start to finish

Hi all. I have purchased a HTC HD2 with Android 2.3 pre-installed. I want to flash Cyanogenmod onto it but the problem I have is that the Android System Recovery is version 3e and thus will not allow me to flash clockworkmod recovery. How can I get clockworkmod recovery on the phone with 3e as a starting point? When booting to bootloader it goes immediatly to ASR 3e.

Does anyone have any idea if CarrierIQ is on the HTC HD2? I would like to know what the app is called or if there is a cloaked or barried app running CarrierIQ. Also, if CarrierIQ is present, any ideas on how to eliminate it?

I have the HTC HD2 rooted and flashed to android 2.3.7 with a tytung kernel running SuperOSR 4 mod.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for this step by step!!! My husband hated the windows phone he had and so last night I took your post and went slowly doing each step in order and SUCCESS!! At first I didn't understand all of the terms, but with a little research, I was able to grasp what I needed to do and got it done! Thanks again!!!

Funny...I had both TMO phones...Blackberry and the HD2. I was using the Blackberry because I HATED WINMO 6.5!! I hated it so much that I did not use the phone for over one year....Then I read the forums....loaded Ice Cream Sandwich and now I cannot put the phone down....I really like ANDROID and these forums...keep up the great work!!! Rock on HD2.....

Hi there,

I just got myself an HTC HD2 with the windows 6.5 operative system and I am looking to install android for the same reasons as everyone else, windows 6,5 is unbearable.

Now, Im a complete newbie to the world of android or for that matter, smartphones so I have a few questions I hope someone can answer.

I read through the installation guide in the first post, but before I give it a try:

- Is it possible to do something wrong and do unrepairable damage to the phone? Or is it always possible to fix things again?

- I've seen some youtube videos with guides to install different versions of Android on the HTC HD2. These seem to be much simpler (for someone like me) than the one described in this thread. However, do they work?

- Which version of android should one look to install? I'm kind of lost in different names and versions of android. Some of the forementioned videos show how to install 2.2 and 2.3 but the newest versions seem to be beyond 4.0. Which version does this guide install?

- As mentioned, I have the phone and I have also bought a SIM card with data and stuff but I am not using it until the phone has android on it. Unfortunately I dont have much sparetime at the moment so I was considering paying someone for installing android on my phone. I'd prefer to do it myself of course. However, does anyone know (in particular in the UK) which stores offer to do this for you? And is it recommendable?

If anyone has time to answer any of these questions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Hey Talderon, I've been following the instructions as best I can. I'm switching my spanish girlfriends HTC Leo to android cause my desire S got pick pocketed in Barcelona. So, I got a sfar as Flash Radio, and was successfull, only the device didnt reboot as such; it just stayed for ages on the green HTC logo with white background.
As the WMDC would not recognise it and I couldn't do a restart in BootLoader mode and the Script never mentioned what to do in such instances so i improvised as best I know how...I took out the battery.
I continued to the next part and flashed that MAGLDR. Success but also with the white screen and green logo.
I would assume that all is well and take the battery out again so i can proceed to the next step but forward reading (good tip by the way) indicates that after the 'reboot' the phone will enter the MAGDLR boot menue screen.
Something tells me that all is not well.
Don't wanna end up loosing 2 phones in the space of 2 weeks.
Tip me again if you please.
Kind Regards
Rasheye

Hi Teldaron,
seems like you've went through allot of trouble. Thanks. I'm getting stuck at the very 1st hurdle however. I get the 3 color screen and then the HSPL3 program stops with an error saying 'bad SPL' or something like that. I have HSPL 3.03.0000 on my HD 2.

Is there anything I can do to overcome this problem?

@Taledron, This, sir, is the definitive guide to flashing Android onto HTC HD2 phones. It is well written, concise, and explains everything in brilliant detail. My hat's off to you.

When I flashed my HD2, I didn't know this guide existed. The guide that I used was similar, though. The only advice that I can give to ANYONE reading this guide with the intent of flashing their HD2 to Android is to read the ENTIRE guide BEFORE you start, and make sure that you have all files downloaded to a single folder on your desktop where you can find them easily. Be patient. When flashing the radio and HSPL, my phone moved quickly, then lagged for a bit at 96%. This should be considered normal. Take your time, and make sure you're not skipping anything. I am a repair tech, and I have on several occasions taken in HD2's that are bricked and not-repairable because of people trying to flash to Android, and using the wrong radio, etc. There's normally no returning from this.

Hi, i have exactly read through all the thread and found it really helpful, nevertheless, as it is requirement of this process that To install/uninstall this HSPL3 there must be any SPL version from this list on your device:
SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.000, now i have spent hours and just can't find the place to get hold of any of the SPL's. i have everything else ready, downloaded in a folder, waiting to be processed but i am unable to move forward, i appreciate people have given a lots of links for these SPL's but these are expired as the files are not there. SO IN SHORT, I WILL REALLY APPRECIATE PROMPT HELP PLS.

hi guys, i have everything but SPL needs downgrading, can't find it on HTC (helpless guys work there) website, so can anyone pls help to find any version from this list :
SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.000

you need to download & run HSPL3_PKG. link is above in the thread.

b the way did you have SPL 2.08 as default or you downgraded it?

Got a question. Everything works fine until I go to run the Magldr package. The phone syncs and is recognized by windows 7. But when I execute the ROMupdateUtility.exe file, the computer drops the connection and no longer recognizes the phone. The update then fails, obviously because no data can be transfered. Any ideas on what is going on?

:( I have the same issue
