This is a guide on how to factory data reset/hard reset/ also getting into FTM mode

Master Reset:
1. Tap Home Key > > Settings > Privacy.
2. Tap Factory data reset.
3. Tap Reset phone. Check Erase SD card if you want to erase the memory card.
4. Tap Erase everything.

Hard Reset:
1. Turn Phone off
2. Press and hold Volume up button then Press and hold Power button till a menu will come out "Android system recovery"
4. Use the Volume button to scroll up and down and use the Camera button to select (click on).
5. Scroll down to "Wipe data/factory reset" and click on it.
6. Scroll down to "Yes -- delete all user data" and click on it.
7. After "Data wipe complete" click on "reboot system now"

FTM mode:
1. Turn Phone off
2. Press and hold Volume down button then Press and hold Power button till a screen will come out and say "FTM"

Power Cycle:

1. Take out the back cover (Do not remove the battery)
2. There is a small button right above the camera lens.
3. Push the button, and that will power cycle your device without removing the battery.

Take down the back cover, you can find a reset switch locate at the up right corner of camera lens. push it will reset your phone and no need unplug the battery. this reset switch just make warp powercycle if freeze happen like computer. not equal to factory reset, they are different according my testing on it.

yes that is power cycle, i will add that as well, thank you.

What's the difference between a hard reset and master reset?

with the master rest you can rest the device without wiping out your SD card
with the hard rest it will rest the phone to where you just took it out of the box
this is the simplest way to explain

hope this helps

thanks.

bit of advce..i just did a factory data reset and it went well. just take screen shots of your homescreens so when you retrieve your apps you can more easily return to where you were before this procedure. i'm anal about my screens and resetting them from memory is a pain.

This thread should be a sticked.... Nice guide.

Edit: you should add that FTM mode cannot be accessed if you have CWM recovery installed.

Hello,
Thank you for this thread!

I recently lost my password and need to do a factory reset on my Samsung Stratosphere.

I know this sounds silly, but what/where is the "camera" button on the Stratosphere? I don't see it.

Thank you again!

Remove your factory reset instructions and replace them with ones that utilize custom recovery, otherwise this thread could brick a lot of phones. Please.

Look elsewhere on this forum for instructions regarding the Stratosphere, these are for the ZTE Warp. The instructions for different offices are often quite different themselves.

Custom recovery is for the all things root

Or even default recovery. Either way people run the risk of bricking their phones, a risk I don't think is worthwhile.
