What you have to do is just exit the set up. Once to the main screen of your phone, you can then go into settings>accounts & sync. from there you can add the google account. The ROM expects you to have a slider keyboard, how ever since the OM doesn't, you have to go about it a different way.

Thanks. That is actually what I did after I posted this. It is working just fine. :) After I posted I took a deep breath and just played around. I should have done that in the first place.

My phone is has been rooted for sometime now, I just installed the cm7 and have lost usb mass storage along with the market. I am super new to the world of roms and have no good idea what I am up against here. Please help my poor noob soul!
