Root Guide to backup and restore apps with Titanium Backup

for example before i could uninstall uno, pocket express, game loft, loopt, and other non crucial apps i was able to uninstall to free up space before when i was on the origonal 2.1 rooted but like i said now that the phone went thru the 2.2.2 android update and is rooted again which is nice but now those apps i listed earlier are a few of the only ones i get the error on when trying to uninstall...confused

also i hate tried pretty much every uninstaller and file remover sold on the market and none of them will remove these pesky programs. also after the update the rom seems to have a lot more memory space taken up than was available before. anyway any suggestions would be great. thank you.

For the CM7 Bootloop issue:
1) Try calling your phone & see if that will knock it out of the loop.

2) I determined the cause of my bootloops was every time I either froze or force-stopped the stock launcher, whenever I would re-boot or power down & re-boot,that I would get caught in a bootloop.I hope this helps.

If you have your contacts backed up to GOOGLE,go to SETTINGS>PRIVACY>& check the two boxes.Escape settings & wait a few minutes & your contacts should start reappearing.

Also, have you tried CONTACTS>MENU>DISPLAY OPTIONS & toggled all the sources listed (GOOGLE ACCT,YAHOO ACCT,etc.....)?

i dont think i ever backed them up on google

just backed up everything on TITANIUM..and figured that would be good...guess it was not...i dont understand how i can easily get all my apps back but not my contacts..so im back on 2.2 until i fully Understand the in's and out's on how to get CM 7 running right without the Loop...

Sometimes you can get a corrupted download.Just try to re-download the file & that may do the trick.

It didn't back up your contacts because it's an application manager, not a phone manager. Make sure you back up all your contacts to your Google account from here on out and you'll always have them, even if you switch ROMs, phones, or carriers. I learned the same way you did.
There are other options for saving your contacts, such as Lookout Mobile Security, but I trust Google over an app.

Yea i chalked it up as i took one on the chin...but i KNOW NOW..alwayz back up over google...then i can save an apk copy to my desktop,..i feel stupid

Installed TiBu and, on first open, got the following error message: "Sorry, I could not acquire root priviliges. This applicaiton will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again."

Ran Auto-upgrade fro BusyBox twice. Download progress bar showed app downloading but it's not in the apps list and TiBu still shows same error message.

Have DROIDX running Android 2.2.1.

Any thoughts?

I realize that this is an old thread.

Mine did the same thing with the same "Sorry I could not" message. Other applications needing superuser (root) permission worked. A reboot solved the problem.

I rooted my phone with Z4 root and installed titanium pro. Everything went well and I began backing up and un-installing items that were not needed. (In another part of the forum there was a list of things that could be deleted.) I installed better keyboard and then backed and uninstalled "Android keyboard 2.1-update1" and "Swype 2.5.45.11222." I tried to send a text using better keyboard and after just a few words got the "force close" message. Did a battery pull and tried again. Same error. So I decided to go restore the android keyboard and swype but when i try it just hangs on the green loading circle like it's trying but never finishes. I let it load for an hour, then reset phone and tried at least 10 more times. Any ideas how to fix this?? I can softmod a wii in 15 min but i guess i'm clueless when it comes to phones. lol. Please help!!

Yes, you can remove the apps you wish to, but be careful. Deleting the wrong stock app can bork your phone. There is a list in the Ultimate Ascend Customization Guide of apps that are safe to remove. With the free version, you have to remove them, you don't have the option of just freezing them.

To remove an app, just open TB and you'll see three gray boxes at the top. You start in the "Overview" so just tap the box that says "Backup/Restore" and wait for the apps to load (there's a little loading circle next to "Click to edit filters"). Then just scroll down and tap the apps you wish to remove. If you push your phone's menu button, you'll see the option for Batch so you can remove them all at once, as well as tons of other handy batch options.

Some users have reported problems with using Titanium Backup (TiBu) on this device. If these problems are device related, I can't help troubleshoot that (I don't own nor have access to this particular phone). What I can do is provide a basic guide for how to use TiBu. I previously posted a version of this guide here. I have updated it slightly due to the previous instructions being nearly a year old.

If anyone sees anything that need changed or anything that was left out...let me know and I'll update this.

i want to ask about update.zip
so, will the update.zip i create on tb still exist on internal card even after i flash a new stock frimware and the wipe all user data (factory reset) ?
i found out mine is gone, and update.zip (android one) also gone.

and is that after wipe all user data, my titanium recent backup which in tibu folder also gone? how to restore that back?

i also want to ask, is that Nandroid back up also back up my photo, video and other file that stored in internal sdcard?
mine is gone after wipe all user data.
