[GUIDE] Unbrick LG Lucid

im just mixing and matching a couple things to make it work for the lucid.
I bricked my phone and i was getting security error when trying to load. nothing was working.
LG tools didnt work. nothing did before this, so i would like to show all lucid users how to UNBRICK

Before we begin make sure your phone can get into download mode.
How to get into download mode
(volume up+volume down+power).
A screen will pop up saying phone is now in download mode. Horrary!

1. Download and install drivers:
LG VS840 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA

2. Download the programs to convert and flash firmware:
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip

3. Download firmware from this thread:

Instructions to convert the cab to a KDZ and flashing it: AKA UNBRICK
1.Make sure drivers are installed
2.Connect your phone to the computer in "Download Mode"
3.Open and extract KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip to a folder
4.Install msxml.msi
5.Disable antivirus software
6.Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
7.Wait for the program to open
8.Look for "Encrypt cab file to kdz file"
9.Click the folder icon
10.Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for VS840 firmware
11.Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program says Done!!! Otherwise it won't finish converting.
12.Close program
13.Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
14."Type" choose CDMA
15.Choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
16.Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
17.Click Launch software update and enjoy!
 
Moved to ATR and stickied :thumbup:

Edit: this will also unroot you if that's all you're trying to do as well as return you to stock. This will update you to ZV7 if you can't get OTA working.

I tried this and i can't seem to get it work??? i downloaded everything you said and tried it all and i get an error message so if you could please if you could help me out with how to do this my lucid is stuck in download mode and can't seem to get this to work!!!!

What is the error message??
And you should be able to get out by pulling the battery and USB cable out, then try to turn it on after reinserting the battery.
 
Thanks fellas I flashed my phone to Verizon prepaid and had everything working including 3g data but as soon as i upgraded to ICS my data dropped to 1x and couldn't get it any better than that. Used this to get back to gingerbread and im back on 3g THANKS!!!!
 
after i do this my phone only turns on with funny colors/ screen image not there but it makes the start up sound. please help
 
I can't get the CAB file from here, I'm using the LG Mobile Support tool to unbrick, but I don't know if it is going to install ICS or GB.
 
Have to find the ZV6 cab which is somewhere around on the main lucid forum uploaded to dropbox.
 
Dude, I've tried for the past 10 minutes on 2 browsers and my phone, all it says is Forbidden with no downloads at all. "Save target as" fails also.

:( that sucks. LG is locking up old firmware files :(
The refresh thing used to work..

I did this fix last night. THANK YOU!

It worked to bring a lucid back from the dead. I had deleted all of the firmware and recovery off the phone.
It would only bootloop on the LG screen. It had been sitting in a basket on my counter for three months. I had all but given up on it.

One note though, I tried DIAG and EMERGENCY neither worked but CS EMERGENCY DID.

I now have a fully functioning LG LUCID

How did you get the VZ7.cab downloaded? I can't get it for the life of me.
