Ok so there is a guide to downgrade to 2.2.1, but why would you want to do so to return from root to stock when you could be returning to 2.2.2 stock instead? I mean we already can root 2.2.2. So why bother going from a rooted phone with 2.2.2 back down to a Stock phone with 2.2.1? The answer is DON'T. This Guide will explain how to return to Stock 2.2.2 (without root installed). You can also use this to upgrade from 2.2/2.2.1 to 2.2.2
WARNING YOU WILL LOSE ALL APPS AND INFO ON YOUR PHONE!
But everything on your microSD card is safe.
Stuff like your MEID HEX (found in Settings>About Phone>Status) or MEID (on the back of the phone underneath your battery), MIN, and MDN (your phone number) should all be written onto a .txt file (Notepad) just in case your power goes out and all of a sudden you're stuck with a phone that's stuck in "Download Mode" or "Software Upgrade Mode" and then you have to unbrick your phone and then you will have to fix your zeroed out MEID which isn't actually caused by bricking, it's caused by unbricking.
If you have contacts that aren't synced with google, I suggest that you Export them to SD card by going to the Contacts list, press Menu key and depending on what you're using as current ROM, you'll either see "Import/Export" right away or you will have to choose "More" first. Select Import/Export and press Export to SD card
Now If you never have set up LGNPST before:
(If you have LGNPST set up already, skip to the second post.)
*CDMAWorkshop may be picked up as a Trojan by antivirus software. I assure you it is safe. If you have problems downloading it/using it, disable your anti-virus software and DO NOT FORGET to re-enable it after you're done. If you are uncomfortable with this, the alternative is to enter your MEID/ESN/MEID HEX here where it says: "MetroPCS on any Android (or non-Android) phone" next to "Calculate"
enter it in, press calculate and your SPC is the same as what you find under "MetroPCS MSL" (so MSL and SPC is the same, just so you know in the future)
**To get admin rights (this applies to Windows 7/Vista, not needed for WinXP): Right click Reggie.exe>Properties>"Compatibility" tab>Run this program as an administrator [check the box]>press apply>press ok

Very first thing to do is to download the drivers go here LG Optimus M MS690 Cell Phones & Mobile Phones - LG Electronics US and download the drivers and install them.
Then go here and Download LGNPST
Open the file and extract these files to your desktop LGNTPS_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0.msi
LGNTPS_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi
LGNTPS_Generic_Models_ver_5_0_10_0.msi
Also extract LGNTPST.exe and the Model and the cdaworkshop folders.*
Run LGNTPS_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi file, let it install if ask for reboot do it. Then run LGNTPS_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0.msi and let it install if ask for reboot do it. Then Run LGNTPS_Generic_Models_ver_5_0_10_0.msi let it install if ask for reboot do it.
After all these files install, locate the LGNTPS.exe file on your desktop and copy it to: C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST. Make a shortcut to the desktop because it's required to run the program. Also copy the Model folder on your desktop to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST as well. Go to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\MTP and delete all the files except for MS690.dll, MS690ZV3_36.scr, Reggie.exe and Setup.exe. **Then drag the MS690.dll file on top of the Reggie.exe file to register the MS690.dll file.** <---- Very Important step, Make sure to have Administrator Rights.
After that is done click start, the program needs the SPC code. So open cdaworkshop on your destop and open cdma workshop.exe. After the programs load select your COM port where the cellphone is connected (It is shown on the right side of LGNPST on the phone info tab) then click connect. Go to the security tab and where it says SPC scroll down and select the LG method. Click read and write down your SPC code.
