Root H boot 1.5 and newbie ?

Ok so I ended up with a day off and im about to root this thing and have one more question. In the instructions it sais to down load the RUU after doing some of the steps but I want to down load it before starting. That isnt a problem is it? I cant see why it would be but I just dont want to do it different than the instructions say if I should not.
Also can I get the unlock token ahead of time from the htc dev site?

Yes and yes. I recommend getting everything ready before hand like it looks like you're doing. Then instead of getting to a step then having to wait an hour for something to download you have it ready.

And another question LOL
After gaining s-off can recovery be done with a PJ75IMG.zip or does it have to be done with cmd ??
with s-on and s-off Instructions for some things and not others its a little confusing.

yes yuo can use PJ75IMG files with s-off. with s-on you can only flash those files if they were signed by htc. but now that you will have s-off you do not have to worry about that.

Cool I asked because in the guide for recovery it said to use cmd to get recovery. Is there an area that is for s-off in the guide that im not seeing?
also is the file the same that is used with cmd or with bootloader? Sorry Im just comparing the og way with the lte way and prob making it harder for my self.

no i just left the adb method in as i think that using it is easier as some do not know how to name the PJ75IMG file correctly and that having some knowledge of adb could help out later.

but if you can find the PJ75IMG version then by all means go for it.

Ok Im s off and have recovery Thanks to every one here who helped.
Now I want to update to the latest stock rooted rom for now.
Do i need to update firmware 1st and if so I do it in order?
Also i dont see any option in recovery to back up keys so I assume that was a cdma thing or it does it automaticly

You're probably thinking of the WiMAX keys we had on the OG Evo. This is no longer an issue, no need to worry about any keys. ;)

PS: Welcome to S-off!!! :D
