Help Hairline crack at power button.

Got one on my phone, anyone else? It's between the left side of the power button and the screen if you are looking at the screen.

I have that crack. I will be exchanging my EVO for other issues anyways, but I am surprised to hear that this is so common. I thought it was just me.

I don't have a hairline crack on my power and volume buttons, but I do have a scuff mark just below the power button from my platinum case. That's the only blemish I notice so far. :)

I don't have the power button crack, but on my first evo there was a crack under the volume rocker. I think it may just be because these are vulnerable spots, there's a cutout in the plastic, therefore a thinner area, therefore cracks may happen. No excuse, but I'm not totally shocked.

I have a half-crack at the right-side of the power button.

I know this crack will bug a lot of ppl, but for those of you who have the crack, does it impede your use of the power/volume buttons at all? Mine doesn't appear to affect anything, so I'll prolly just deal with it.

This is fairly common. Its a stress crack im not sure if its from dropping it or maybe there is some attachment point behind that area that causes the casing to give way after time.

I had cracks on mine by the power button and the down volume button. I got a refurb replacement HW version 2 that was rebuilt on 8/12/10. It came with frozen yogurt already installed. It actually runs much faster than my hard reset OTA updated phone did. Now just waiting for root!

Been looking for this thread for awhile, knew it existed... have the crack at the power button and light leakage but I know I'll probably never get a replacement sadly

I had the hairline crack between the power button and battery cover. I brought it to a sprint store. The tech brought it back, opened the battery cover, opened the back of the phone. Small piece of plastic fell out. They gave the phone back to me with a number to file an insurance claim (TEP). I tried to turn my phone on and it would not turn on. (It worked before I brought the phone in). I went back into the store and they went back to the tech again. A few minutes later they came out and said the power button had become dislodged and I needed a new phone.

I called the TEP (Total Equipment Protection) number. After arguing for about 5 minutes that it was a Sprint employee that rendered my phone unusable, they agreed to pay one half of the $100 deductible. I flat out said NO and again re-iterated that a Sprint employee rendered the phone unusable. She then agreed that Sprint would reimburse the entire $100 to me.

What I would like to know is, is there a comparable Sprint phone to the EVO? I might further ask for the alternative phone.

BTW, my phone was only about 9 months old and never dropped.

Or maybe have them give you a credit for the Evo 3D, which should be out soon.

I actually thought about resurrecting this thread since last month, I developed another crack along my VOL-DOWN button. This one is much more obvious than the little crack along my power button.

Sprint says that when I trade in my Evo, they inspect for screen scratches and bezel cracks. Damn. Funny thing is, the Sprint rep I was talking to pulled out his Epic and showed me a similar crack. So it's pretty common.
