Halo:Reach

I never really played another Halo game. but this one was pretty fun. Beat on legendary the other day. Is it worth going back to the older ones? I have never been a fan of moving back in time graphically and interface wise tho.

I would play the single player only on H3 if you want to waste $ on it. Otherwise, it wouldn't even matter. Reach's campaign is a prelude to the actual Halo storyline (before Master Chief and Reach's destruction)

I feel the Needle Rifle is a useless weapon. It's suppose to be like the needler, but the Elite's move to much to get enough rounds in them to make the gun useful.
Do you jack up the aiming sensitivity? I find the DMR, Needler Rifle, Magnum, and the sniper rifle are the only reliable guns on legendary.. When I had to use other guns I feel very venerable..

I think I have my sensitivity set to 5. I haven't played on Legendary, I like to play on Heroic first, and then play again on Legendary.

Couldn't have said it any better!

Go big or go home :p

I always a do a fast normal mode, just to get used to the controls and focus on story. Then after that I jack up the hardest mode and go ballistic, currently playing it on 5 myself. Might need to take it up a bit more for even more normal aim, but I still need to get used to my controller either way.

Just with FPS in general. It seems like you have to move the sensitivity way up to be keep up with computer AI on harder levels and online.. It feels uncontrollable at first but once you get used to it, it gives you so much more control and quickness.

For everyone saying its not as good as Halo CE have you gone back and played Halo CE recently. Some friends and I played it this summer at my house (I have 2 xboxs so 8 person lan is easy) and it wasnt nearly as fun as I remember. We ended up going to a bar instead. Halo CE was definitely a huge benchmark setting game but I think a lot of people including myself remember it better than it was just because it was so far ahead of its time.

Reminds me of Ghost Recon and Delta Force 3; The landwarrior. Two brilliant online games, super great at the time it was released, but I can't play it now at all. Haha, so yeah - some games (like Halo CE) will always be great in my memory, but that doesn't mean I can play it now.

i'll likely buy it although i was totally turned off the halo franchise with halo 3 and the moronic adolescent newbies screaming over the mike. as a habit now i always mute every one when ever i play halo 3.

Got pissed off at Firefight mode yesterday... Rocket Fights on Firefight is absolutely a blast, literally. I'm jumpjetting over a group of enemies and fire off two rockets into the group first shot kills 7 enemies outright. Right as I shoot my rounds a team mate sprints towards the group and gets taken out by my blasts... Its a f**king rocket fight, why were you running at the group like that you moron, planning on melee attacking all of them or something? Anyways I was the leader through the 4th round of the match when that idiot pulled that move off and because of one team kill he has the right to boot me, it should take more than one team kill IMO if they get to auto boot you.

One kill is dumb. Even in multiplayer vs I see it happen all the time and its usually a complete accident.

I loveeeee the Sniperfight Firefight matchmaking scenario but yeah, I agree some people are just morons.

Yeah the boot system is moronic. Like I would toss a grenade down a hall where an enemy is and a team mate will just go run in there like an idiot and fall on my grenade then boot me.

The new systems that idiots say yes please to.. I mean, now they can suicide a lot and kick the serious gamers out at whim.

I must say I dunno how bad it is.

phew, im glad that i saw this before making my very own thread.

i guess i'll be the loner here and say THIS GAME SUCKS BALLS. the campaign is decent and rocket fights are cool but matchmaking is downright diarrhea.

its a race to these so called "power weapons" i learn. cool. NOOOOOT. it takes 58 bullets to kill somebody and 2 maylays. the guns are so NEW and INTUITIVE!!!! nope. the extra abilities are a copy of perks in a way. armor.. wow, neat.

it took bungie how long to make this, and this is what they come up with???

man windows 7 is the only reason i dont completely dog MS. yeah i have an xbox but the ps gets more enticing every day. their cell phones sucks ass. Open Office takes care of their Office Suite (mostly) and the ps3 is almost giving them a black eye...

input?

It is quite clear from you're post you have never played a Halo game before.

This game is not Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (although compared to previous Halo games it is more in that direction). I don't know why any one would expect to be playing CoD when they have a Halo disc in their machine.

Anyways, true reason I came here. Need some friends to play Reach with :) GT: drfoss

i have played the whole Halo series big guy... CE to this... 3 smokes this garbage.

Bungie SUCKS. at least warefare made a game that visually is AMAZAZING (but plays like fresh terd)

video games are getting so so so shitty now'a'days.

at least BlackOps has zombies, or it would totally blow donkey sack. when that game fails, zombies will be awesome. how can u mess up zombies?!?

I agree that Reach is probably the poorest Bungie Halo game yet. But from your post, you made it seems like you didn't like Reach because it wasn't CoD, which is not a good reason to not like it.

They way you talk really says a lot for you.

3 and ODST where the worst of the series IMO. Reach really goes back to the CE and 2 feel.

How is Reach not a visually Amazing game? The sky textures are just awesome!

Also it's not that hard to kill people, maybe your aim is just off or your not aiming for the head.

To the guy complaining about the boot system, I heard the next update is changing this to 3 team kills before it pops up.

Now that makes me relieved, I look forward to see how that goes and life ain't bad really. I'm still more of a cod gamer still, but I think Halo: Reach is justifying end for Bungie. They have done a lot of great things in that game and they have yet again put up some new inspirations for other games out there.

As you Bramsy said Halo Reach does not do a jack, but if you take a look into CoD:BO and look at buying everything on you in multiplayer, remember - it was from Reach they got it from.

I love the aesthetic pleasing feel this games gives me and story is really well written. Been playing custom games vs friends here at campus and can say that I really really like the feel of this game. Next step is online for me.

On the contrary, Reach is the first Halo game I've ever enjoyed (and I've played 'em all to some degree). I was planning on buying it, playing it for a week or two, and selling it off and instead I'm still going strong. The story is alot better, matchmaking works much better, the challenge and credit system keeps me working towards a goal, etc.

There are certain aspects that irk me greatly (coming from MW2) such as how many hits it takes to kill an enemy and the randomness of grenades/melee but overall I'm enjoying it.

Here's my review of the game.
