Help Handcent sms

I use Handcent - does it always take 5-6 seconds (or more) to open?

I'm on 229, which is the latest, I think. I wonder if I have something set in a way that is causing the dely. I'll go through my settings again. Thanks!

This is the stock Messaging app. Functional.

This is chompSMS. Very customizable. And that "Quick Reply" popup is sweet. And, the LED flashes blue ... while the email LED is still green. I like that.

I am using Handcent and am having trouble sending group texts. When I send a message to two people very often only one receives the text. Anyone else having this problem?

I just installed ChompSMS, just to compare to Handcent ... and because I was starting to experience force closes with Handcent. (Unacceptable)

My first impression: REALLY cool. Probably just as customizable as Handcent (if not more so), and if I don't experience FCs it's the clear winner!

FWIW, ChompSMS lets you change the LED color as well.

I haven't tried Chomp yet, but I will just for comparison as well. But Handcent does give you the chance to change the LED color as well. Press the wrench in the right hand corner > Notification Settings > The color of LED (under LED settings). Can choose blue, green, red, orange, magenta, and cyan.

Yes, I knew that. I was telling the people that have Handcent already and like that feature that chompSMS does it too.

Use chompsms, its faster, simpler, and it seems better written. It also has an option for cdma split.

I think I found my problem with handcent. I had the stock app set to receive messages also. Stopped that and the problems so far are gone. One more question. On my old phone ( ENV 2 ) if I didn't have signal or had my phone off when some would send me a message it would tell me when it was sent and received. Will handcent do this also?

can someone answer if chomp sms allows the message screen to look like the stock app. i don't like that bubble crap. i downloaded it and played but i couldn't see where to get rid of the bubbles, only to customize them.

i'm using handcent bcause I want the 160 split and LED color AND simple/functional stock app msg screen. My phone is not an iphone and i dont want it to pretend to be one. Plus, the bubbles are just annoying and equate to more scrolling to see previous msgs.

i haven't had any issues with handcent so far and don't notice any slow down either.

a couple of times i have seen my cell coverage go all crappy and drop to 1x or go out completely. i'm not sure if it is where i am or if an app, most likely handcent, is knocking it out. the otherday in the gym where i get great 3g coverage, the phone was like stuck in 1x. i rebooted and 3g came back with great signal. Just now at work i had no service. Reset and now i'm back wavering between 3g and 1x which is normal for here.

not sure if i'm being paranoid or what but i have noticed some weird signal strength issues and if it is an app doing it, my gut goes with handcent.
