Help Handoff issues

Is it my phone, my network coverage, or a general issue? The handoff between 4G and 3G and vice versa is terrible. Sometimes I lose all connectivity. 4G coverage isn't thorough in my area and I feel like it's swapping between networks all the time, and doing it poorly at that. I don't even keep my 4G off in order to save battery; I do it because the handoff is a bigger inconvenience than finding an outlet.

My hand-off is pretty inconsistent as well. Actually seems like it got slightly worse with the latest update.

Likewise. I noticed some definite benefits with the 4.0.4 update, but the hand off from 3G to 4G and vice versa is much worse now. Honestly, I never had much of a problem with it prior to the 4.0.4 update. Now, it's a definite issue. Even worse is the transition between WiFi to 3G or 4G. I almost always have to go in and switch to airplane mode when I leave WiFi range, or the phone will not hand off to 3G or 4G...I'm just left with some grey bars.

I know it's been discussed ad nauseum, so I'm guessing you can file it under a general issue. Frustrating, none the less.

Probably a combination of location and radio?

I have good handoff but I am on a custom radio, rom, kernel and live in a city with consistent 4G/LTE. It does successfully switch back and forth between 3G/4G when it has to.

radio is I515.09 V.FA02 / I515.FA02

version 4.0.4

kernel - Franco Kernel Milestone 4

3G/4G data, Wifi hand off seems to have greatly improved for me after 4.0.4 update. Normally less than 10 seconds now. Many others on Gnex forums seem to report that too. Gain in signal strength is marginal though.

If it got even worse with 4.0.4, I'm afraid that it might be bad hardware. Or cell tower there has some issues.

I just got off the phone with tech support, and she said that this phone seems to have this issue sometimes. She suggested that I change the sim card as it will likely resolve my issue. We will see.

I had this issue too and honestly was about to replace the phone because of it. I'm on Wifi at home and work but when I left I'd have those darn grey bars. Sometimes phone would connect after a few minutes, sometimes I had to do the airplane mode trick.

Extra annoying because I use google voice for texts...if I don't have data, I can't send/receive text messages.

I am happy to report that installing the Jellybean leak on my GSM Nexus has completely eradicated the issue (there is a new radio for the HSPA handset, I suspect that is what fixed it)

Hopefully Jellybean fixes the issue for all of you!
