Hello,
Last week I was very close to buy a high-end android phone from Sprint or Verizon. Then I realized that I really do not want to lock down myself to a two year contract which because it literally sucks. Plus I was thinking about $70 dollars plans and taxes included will cost me around $85 a month. Plus I hardly use voice calls on 3g because I have Skype app and for which I pay $2.99 per month for unlimited calls to USA and I have Ooma home phone which is completely unlimited (for Ooma, you buy the device for $200 and no bills for the rest of your life, It has been three years I have been using Ooma home phone and I never had complaints). Then I started looking for best deals in town and viola, I found Virgin Mobile as the best rated and cheapest plan with really good android phone. I have been using Skype (I have started using GrooVe IP app which is for Google Voice users and I think it is very appealing and I like it and calls are good on 3g as well as wifi). As I knew that I have other alternatives to not to use voice calls that often on Sprint or Verizon, I decided to go for Virgin Mobile and after a week I can say I made the right decision. I have been testing 3g speeds in my area which hovers between 1.5mbps to 2.5mbps for downloads and uploads speeds are between 0.4mbps to 0.8mbps. I have used the wifi tethering just to check the hotspot speeds on my laptop and I can easily watch netflix without any problems. Another good thing that 3g signals and GPS are awesome on my device. I always use VOIP calls and I never had a dropped call, calls are crystal clear at least better than cellular calls. Android apps are great though I have iPod Touch 4g, I would stay Apple apps are better as of right now but I think in next few months Android will definitely take over Apple. I miss netflix app and Skype video calls on my iPod Touch but I think we will be getting those apps in the Android market very soon. All in all, I made the right decision of picking $25 per month plan with unlimited data. Trust me this is the best plan at least in the US. Please give your feedback about your Virgin Mobile experience. Thanks
