Happy Nexus users?

Awesome! For apps, this will take months to get the best via searching with goggle etc. Get connected to appstorm.com, androidtapp.com, androidapps.com, and androidcentral.com to start with. Be patient, and enjoy! I'll post a link to the only user manual i know of shortly..

one slightly OT Q while I'm here.
I have a gmail account, presumably I can use that to set up my Nexus?
I know you have to have a google account, and I have read about people having to make a new one...

yea, your gmail account is your google account. and despite what you've heard negatively about gmail mobile, its actually very nice. no need to pinch n zoom, though I'm a pro at it lol. However, I can't see sent mail.
google is beneficial because you can sync numerous apps together through google. as well as pics and journals and documents and spreadsheets and videos. you name it. That's a big reason why it's cool. It syncs, and stores in the free cloud. So many of the most popular and best quality apps are trying to provide google syncing. I have 4 calendar apps and 2 task apps, and what goes on one calender app nearly instantly appears on all the others. as well as tasks. you have google docs, google goggles, google EVERYTHING. It's the best I see so far....google. I'm most impressed by their free navigation. if you set the settings just right, It's just ****ing amazing. google navigation. ftw

thanks for that. I have to state I am a cynic of the cloud and try to avoid it as much as possible.
My reasoning behind this is a topic for a different section altogether! :)

I plan to, hopefully, be able to stop my contacts on the Nexus from being sync'd with the cloud.
Is that setting there?
Fellow android users have set that, but they have gingerbread on theirs.

You can avoid cloud storage, though it is very safe and can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection. But the syncing I was referring to, via gmail, isn't storage. But you can easily opt to not have anything sync. IMO that would defeat the whole purpose of having Google involved in the first place. You'll wanna spend a great amount of time exploring all the settings for the device and apps. Good luck.

Verizon LTE here.
Best phone I've ever owned, hands down.

Does it suck battery life like a cheap $2 whore sucks..... you get the idea....
the answer is yes if your'e on it like a mad man playing games, multi-tasking, and streaming on your 4G connection all day like a madman.

All joking aside: it's an excellent phone!
Great hardware from an amazing screen to plenty of memory, to a super fast processor that makes applications run VERY smooth, to probably some of the fastest download speeds around. Oh, and lets not forget how awesome ICS is.

I wouldn't take any other phone out there at this point.

VZN GNexus here, I'm happy with the phone.

A lot of people complain about battery life, but compared to my last phone (Droid Incredible), the battery life is fine for me.
