Happy Nexus users?

Yes. There are many different apps for texting, calling and keyboards. I like using GoSMS for texting, Rocketdial for calls, and SwiftKey for a keyboard. Check them out on the android Market. You can try them for free, and if you like them you can buy them for a small price. You also get more features and widgets when you buy apps after a trial (that's called "going pro"). The screen is beautiful! And when your pinch zooming skills get good, you'll love browsing the web! Even on 3G! Many sites have apps that make it easier to use, such as Facebook, Google sites, and using forums. I'm using Tapatalk right now for this and other forums. Awesome.

ah that reminds me. I want to try forum runner and tapatalk to see which is best.
does forum runner work on ice cream OS?

I'm surprised Google allows ATK to be on the Market. That program is not needed and does more harm than good.

Remember when the OG Droid came out and even VZW in store employees were recommending ATK's? I'm glad that clusterfrak is over with.

Quite simple for me to answer.......

Yes im very happy with the GNex.

  • Screen is very nice

  • OS is IMO slick and fairly smooth (coming from 2.2 on a 1st gen HTC Desire)

  • Camera is fine for what I want (I have a DSLR for propper photography)

  • Battery lasts more than a day with moderate use (3G uk) and working in a factory where the signal is crap and the phone is constantly looking for a signal which doesn't help the battery.

And finally, I work at a desk with 5 other guys, 4 of which have Iphone 4's. Despite them all being very pro iphone, none of them have slated the GNex and all agree that its a good piece of kit. They obviously won't admit it but I think they are jealous as $hit ;)

Samsung Galaxy Nexus might be a good phone in general point of view. but if you try to compare it with a smartphone category then i would rather say, it has got nothing to be compared with a smartphone.
Starting with the body and looks, it is as same as all the galaxy devices.
The body material and color combination are same and looks very dull.
The battery is also very poor but sammy claims a betters one.
the camera is also poor, means after taking a snap, when you review it then the pics appears to be very dull and loss of brightness and contrast in the quality. the pics appears unrealistic.

had an iphone 3gs just got my nexus today, so far im loving it ! although i haven't spent much time on it yet. however i've recently just view a quick footage from a movie & it was awesome ! clear picture & audio; the larger screen & quality heaps.

talking of email clients, I do have gmail, but my main account is BTinternet, so I would need one that can poll that nicely.
Ideally, some filter setting to not download email content with large attachments, like the funny videos that circulate, up in the 2 to 3 meg filesize.

Though I haven't yet ruled out the all you can eat deal.

Currently I have a puny 500meg on Vodafone.
I leave net access off when not actively using it, and browsing the forums and other sites I do can take me to my 500meg limit often.
I used to leave the default N900 email client on 15minute email polls, but that took me over my limit even faster.
It was particularly slow though, not quite sure what it exactly does, but I have Claws email on it now and that is MUCH faster, but doesn’t seem to offer me the user definable poll frequency.
It’s something I would like on Android.

I’d also like to utilise the features like the GPS based weather updates etc so I have that updated, handy for planning photo opportunities.

Would I manage with 1gig on Android, or do I sound like a contender for more?

I think it would be safer to get 2 gigs. Verizon here has it's lowest plan at 2 gigs, and during the holidays their special was double the gigs for that plan, so I have 4 gigs per month and so I don't have to worry much about going over. But it seems like I do actually need 4 gigs.

Not true. It has a much different shape and size, much more comfortable and elegant, and.... This is the only phone I know of that has no permanent keys! The bottom row with the back key, home key, app-history key, and menu key are all part of the ICS OS!! When the screen is off, the "keys" are gone. And they hide at ideal times, such as watching a video. AND, if you rotate your phone to the right, those keys flip over to the right side! So that no matter which way you rotate your screen, they will always be on your right side, oriented with the screen, not sideways.
NOW.... About the app-history "key"... That is the most awesome thing about ICS!!! No other phone has this. This makes it so much easier and faster to do all your business. Once you've spent a month with this phone, you'll be adjusted to this and know how much better ICS is than any other OS, and this phone is "perfectly " designed for ICS.
I'm satisfied with the camera. And 720 front video camera and 1080 rear, I'm happy.

As a general rule, the folks who use this Forum are not your general run-of-the-mill phone users.

I realize that I'm about to generalize....but most of the people who post here have higher expectations and can be more demanding than the general public.

If I were to quickly browse the thread titles, I'd get the impression that the GN had unrecoverable software and hardware problems...breaking into 1000 pieces at the slightest jolt.

I always encourage newcomers to view these threads through "Forum Goggles," knowing that many posts are very specific and often deal with an aspect of hardware design or software design or "the phone experience" that the original poster holds close to their heart, and is therefore passionate about.

For my part, I just upgraded from the Nexus One that I owned for the past two years. I purchased a GSM version for use on T-Mobile in the US and love the phone. I'm having to get used to the larger size and my perception that it is more fragile than the N1, but I assume that I'll soon grow accustomed to it and will treat it like I did my N1...comfortable keeping it in my pocket instead of needing a belt holster for it.

my $0.02

AGREEED.
Well said, Woodrow!
Hopefully an administrator will make this kind of statement as a sticky thread for those new and curious about the gnex.

When I bought my Inc I had to stop the salesman from installing it! He didn't even ask me.

my $0.02

Thanks. I do understand what you are saying, hence my request for the converse opinions.

Also, I am a very intolerant user. My stuff has to work properly for me.
I had a sony ericsson some time ago that had a poor connection charging. It would ding a ding a ding as it made and lost connection. ALong with other things that it did to annoy me, it drove me to despair, ultimately it literrally had a high velocity meeting with a solid wall.
My N900 (suspiciously to me-I am also cynical) now my 2 years is up on Vodafone, has, after 2 years faultless use, started flashing up no SIM messages, making 3G a joke, and yesterday when out in the car I couldn't make a required call.
It needed a beating on the steering wheel and throwing into the footwell.
(I HAVE already taken battery and SIM out, checked and cleaned contacts etc etc)

So I like to investigate as much as possible because I do expect devices to be fit for purpose.

Unfortunately, in rip-off UK, we get 500meg, 1gig, and now all you can eat, (allegedly) actual unlimited usage.

2 gig would be ideal I would say!

In your 4 gig usage, what is your typical daily/weekly activities using it?

I have a few specifics questions too if I may.

I read about no mass storage device mode. What is the deal on accessing files via USB on windows (XP and windows 7). One review talks about having to keep the screen lit up else it fails?

Is there flash support yet? My browser based email is now driven by flash of course…
One review mentions HTML email viewing is a pain as it displays the email such that you have to pan around and can’t pinch zoom etc?
Presumably another email client can correct this?

I take it USB charging is straight forward on the PC?

A slightly odd question.
For the non handbag carrying Nexus users (males mostly?), how do you carry it around?
All my phones so far have been front jeans pocket compatible. This is a bit of a beast, though slim.
How do you deal with it?

I read that 4.04 is out now and fixes these issues:
This update apparently makes the phone run faster, gets rid of the battery stat problem, switches between the 3g and 4g radios better, improves signal strength, speeds up the boot time, changes the auto-brightness functionality, gives you a new power menu, increases the volume, fixes the keyboard, resolves issues users may be facing with multi-touch and a whole lot more apparently. This changelog is not the official one though. It has been presented by the same source that put the update online in the first place.

What is up with the keyboard, and what is the battery stat problem?
