Lurker
I'm new to forums but here's my issue. My galaxy s3 was working fine and out of no where my lock/power button wouldn't work. I took out the battery and now it won't work at all. No power, rectory or download mode. It won't charge or anything. It's currently running on 4.4.2 ..please help.

Hello there aparks10:)
Whoa, that doesn't sound good:(
Try this. Maybe leave the battery out for about 10 minutes. Then put it back in. Plug the charger into the wall or computer. Do you get a charge light? If not, leave it plugged in for a while until a light comes on. Then turn it on.
If you get a charge light, wait about 5 minutes, then power on.

How old is the battery?
I am guessing you are not rooted corrrect?

It's been like this for about a week. I've tried it all to be honest. Nothing at all. I'm not sure how old the battery is, but I have a backup one that's newer. Nothing at all seems to work.

I'm really dumb about phones lol
I've read/ watched vids on YouTube about unbricking phones via sd card.
Not really sure how to root really.

oh wow. That's a tough one :hmmmm: How about your charger or cord? Could that be faulty?
Sorry if you tried that already, I don't know:(
You may need a JTag service or a usb jig

Not powering up at all...**thinking** gotta think about what else can be done. :hmmmm:

I've tried that as well.
No need to apologize. I can use all the help I can get. Is there a way I can use the sd card? Like download something to it?

I thought to move your thread to the general forum for the S3 vs. the rooted forum;)

I just want to share a similar story that happened once to me. Similar story.
My phone was at approx. 40% battery left, and suddenly turned off.
I had no response at all from the power button.

I took out the battery like you did etc etc...nothing.

Just for shits and giggles, I did this out of frustration: (in no particular order because I don't remember--I was frustrated lol)

I removed and inserted the battery rapidly (enough for the contacts to make contact)
I plugged it into a wall charger without the battery, then put the battery in.
I unplugged/plugged in/unplugged it rapidly--maybe 5-7 times(at the phone port) (with the battery in).
I finally got a red, charge light. I left it alone for 10 minutes and booted it up.
Yeah, I almost threw it across the yard

Haha
I've done that several times

Like everything possible that I could think of. I was frustrated.
I'm using a backup galaxy s3 but it has a busted screen ):
I miss my old one
I'm sure there is something to do

Well i dont really have a suggestion to solve issue its hard to tell if its hardbricked or major hardware malfunction or a simple hardware malfunction. But maybe you or a local pro can swap out the screen for ya on your s3s.

I dont wanna be doubting thomas but if you tried j-tag and got nothing thats not good. From what ive read never done so not 100% certain is j-tag is like a "final resort" before realizing your phone is done. But if you are techinal enough it could be something like the power got disconnected on board that you could fix for yourself. Hopefully a couple of those tech experts who frequent this forum will respond. You search www.xda-developers.com/
