IMO, 5-7 of the movies are the only good ones because they actually get into the groove of acting and sort of know what they are doing. Four was ok. The first three were fairly cheesy.

I agree it was cheesy at first. I couldn't get pass their acting in the first one. I actually started liking the movies starting with the 3rd one. I liked the way they filmed it with dark bluish scenery.

I'm really looking forward to opening day numbers. The movie already have been setting new records, especially for the midnight release. This movie made $43.5 million at midnight releases while the previous record was $30 million by the last Twilight movie. Keep in mind that the 2nd highest midnight showing for an HP movie was the 6th one at $24 million.

Yeah, Thursday night/Friday morning...I passed by a local theatre and the lines were packed! My friend who watched it there said, they used 12 of their bigger theatre rooms and had to use the rest of their smaller rooms for overflow. Sold out! It was an AMC 30! So imagine how many tickets were sold for that one theatre by itself. They probably had to use 15-20 rooms or more plus their 2 IMAX theatres.
This movie is gonna make a ton of money and break every record there is.

I saw it, and frankly was disappointed. They spent upwards of $200 million and the cgi wasn't as convincing as it should have been IMO. Not to mention, the final battle scene was less than epic/exciting. Frankly, it seemed like more of the same.
WB touted that they weren't breaking things into two films just to make an extra buck. That's not how I saw it...
Then you have people stating what amazing acting this was. Yeah, it was good, but people are head over heals because these kids developed so much. Yes, the difference between the acting skills of a ten and twenty-one year old, when they have been acting their whole life in between those points, is going to improve.
Don't get me wrong, it was a great film, but far too over-hyped for me.

I think I feel very similarly about this movie as you do. I did enjoy the movie but there were certain things that I didn't appreciate as much as others. Like you stated, the final battle was kinda anticlimactic considering it's weight. And there were certain lines that I completely appreciate that they kept in tact from the books, but the delivery was completely off. I mean, J.K. Rowling let you know how intense these scenes were or how much emotion was behind a statement, and I feel they weren't accurately depicted in the movie as the book did in my head. My feelings about the final battle also fit into this.
Overall, yeah, def a great movie, but I love the books a lil too much to allow for too much discrepancy. Granted, I think they were very faithful to the last book, but if the director really did read it, he obviously didn't get from it what I did.
With that said, I absolutely love the first two movies because of how faithful to the books they were (that and Sir Richard Harris WAS Dumbledore, but that's another story). By the third it was so chopped and skewed that if you didn't read the book, you would have missed so much. The completely destroyed the fourth and best book IMO. I do think the fifth was done very well considering how large the book was. The sixth made the mistake of leaving in all the garbage that I felt was unnecessary, but cutting out the really good parts.
I've come to realize that David Yates is an excellent director, but he's better suited in delivering his own vision than someone else's. I just wish he would have consulted Michael Bay for the final battle. lol

Saw it last night and it was good beings I never read the books. My wife on the other hand read all the books and she said there was a lot they should of put in from the book and didnt like how the director did the final scene of tom riddles death. He went against the book. She said over all she was pleased with the movie. Now its over and people can start looking for the next new big series to fall in love with.
Oh yeah there was a girl there dressed up like a hogswarts student. Think she was suppose to be moaning myrtle with the pig tails and all. She even had a cape and a wand lol.

This movie crushed it in the box office. Its gonna be hard to beat this movie. I hope twilight doesn't beat it.....please please please!
I loved the movie but it could have used an extra 45 minutes. The movie seemed to only cover the last 3 or 4 chapters of the book and it was cliff noted.

Why? This movie being "beaten" in the box office doesn't make it any more or less good, right? I still think any one of the Star wars movies (original Trilogy) were far better than any of the HP movies. Yeah they were beaten out in the box office... we are also talking 40 years difference here, but I digress.

Lol, right! But if I have to see them win best kiss again and not kiss on stage again...I'm gonna be furious! (don't ask me how I know that)
Back on topic, I'm hoping for a director's cut too but the dvd/bluray won't be here for a long time.

I went with my son on Tuesday. He was complaining how the movie was so different from the book and he did not like that much. I had the same feelings except I haven't read the books. The film was good but my expectations were apparently way too high.
And were my eyes playing tricks on me or was Luna a redhead at the beginning of the movie?

Oh, a ranking...let's do it. Keep in mind, I've enjoyed these movies in comparison to how I feel they stacked against the books.
1. Sorcerer's Stone
2. Chamber of Secrets (the first two were the most true to the books, and they were just so cute lol)
3. Deathly Hallows pt 1
4. Order of the Phoenix (they cut a lot, but they did it right..as long as that book was, I feel they did a great job of cutting the fluff and leaving in the good stuff)
5. Prisoner of Azkaban
6. Deathly Hallows pt 2 (this will probably rank higher as I watch it more, I'm still just a lil perturbed)
7. Goblet of Fire (this is still my fav book, but man, did they butcher it)
8. Half-Blood Prince (prob my least fav book, but unlike OotP, they cut out the good stuff and left the crap in).
And now that Hermoine is legal, I'm gonna say that I'm really digging her pixie cut, which is weird since I don't usually like that on most women.
