Has Anyone Activated a Google I/O Phone With Their Current Sprint #

Question! No one has asked it.. I'm not sure if any of you would know, but do you think by activating the I/O EVO to your current lines waive the extra $10/month fee????? since they dont have EVO plans ready yet..

It's possible that within that 30 mins it took you guys to get it activated correctly that whomever you were talking to had to get clearance to apply somewhat of an EVO plan, but doesn't mean they knew exactly what they were doing... Just curious :-) i think it would be interesting and amazing if they dont charge you the $10 wimax charge since they so called dont have Evo plans yet :-)

The "I word?"

Iphone and threatening to switch to ATT.

if you already get a discount on your bill then no you dont qualify to get the 10 dollar credit for being a google i/o phone, but a couple post ago someone said you can if you not getting any type of discounts already

was it a guy or girl, and what did you tell them while you were rude.

see above. I word. and he was a male

We have established and some are upset about the $10/month extra charge that comes with the EVO.. MY Question is: By activating your EVO not (I/O EVO or whatever you have) do you think that Sprint has not applied that extra $10 charge to your account???

to bad you don't have a name, I just called again and threated told him to cancel my line and he was going to do it, does not care

Just a heads up for those investing the big bucks.

Sprint refused to activate my friends "eBay EVO" he received about 1 hour ago after paying $75 extra for Fedex "first AM" delivery to the seller on his EXISTING Sprint account. They say they he has to wait until June 4th.

It can still be used under the demo account included with the phone with the demo phone number. The did it at first and I guess it was passed down the line to hold off. YMMV of course.

EDIT: After some Googling found the same thing has been reported on another EVO forum.

Did you actually use the dedicated line for activation, given in the Google IO documentation?

Online activation will not work in the documentation it states only the special google i/o group has the codes to set the evo up until 6/4.

OP tell your friend use the free service under the demo line acct that automatically activates when the phone is turned for the first time then call Sprint back on 6/4

I was one of the lucky ones, I called before many had evos but based on the time it took I know why Sprint is being hard nosed now.

Several people have done it. You just have to get a CS rep who is willing to actually go through the whole process and help you out.

It makes me wonder though, if 5000 phones were sold how many agents do they have supporting the 800 number, 2:eek:

Also you can't do online activation on a phone that does not have a clear ESN.

I am not calling anyone a liar, but I am real suspect about the not being able to add this to your account or not being able to get new service with the phone. After all the whole point of this was to get the phone into the hands of people that will use it and keep and or get sprint service:D
The whole issues with this just puzzles me, but I suppose I am not in the know as I don't have a phone until, see sig:o

Here's the welcome note!

Can't remember when you said you were getting your phone, as I know you seem to pop up in all the can't activate threads. Make sure to keep us updated on the process.

That's exactly what he was told to do. They WERE activating them on existing accounts the first couple days but they were told to stop.

Someone suggested the "special line" on the paperwork, I believe (not 100% sure) that is what he called. They told him it will be fine as a "IO phone" using the free demo account & phone number but to move it to his personal account with his current number he would have to wait until 6/4. The phone functions fine with the "free number" but he can't move it to his OWN ACCOUNT until 6/4. That is the issue. He's going to just FORWARD his current number's incoming calls to this phone until he can swap it.

well I have been messing with this all morning and was able to activate the phone, have told the manger I spoke with that I will be canceling all my lines with sprint like I reported earlier and later in the day he called me back and activated my Evo on my personal line. Sweet

Wrong!

i have done it along with a couple other people. again you have to get the right person that i knows how to do it and wants to take the time to do it.

I called the 877 to activate my EVO, and the rep said I would lose all my corporate discounts in order to activate the phone on my family plan. I get 25% off plus some other discounts, so I immediately stopped her and told her not to touch anything.

Anyone else with corp. discounts face the same issue?

Wow..I didn't face that. I already have the "Family Everything Data Plan" but she telling about the Google I/O discounted plan and I refused because I would have been paying a little more than what I'm paying now. However, I also applied ofr a discount because of the College I attend. Si'll get $15 off because of that. That's not much, but it'll help out.

Yeah I had to get the Radio Shack guy to call 888-876-8381 and it was a piece of cake. The regular number that they are calling from is a long wait and some cannot get it done in the system for some reason.
