Has anyone else been charged already?

Haven't even got a pleliminary email or anything saying I pre-ordered, though the money has been taken (or pending) from my account. Should I be worried??

Thursday evening, I ordered two 16g models, and when I confirmed the order, it popped up with an old delivery/billing address. I corrected the g-wallet data, then called Google to discuss next actions. They said cancel this order, and reorder under the newly updated g-wallet account.

Which I did, and this resulted in a double-hold of $1,100 on my debit card. I called and they said it will take a couple of days to clear.

Today, not just one of the orders, but both have had the hold released. Just to make sure, g-wallet still shows a pending order for two Nexus 7 16g devices (me and spousal unit). So, I think they made have rethought keeping peoples' funds tied up for weeks rather than a couple of days as is normal with e-purchases.

Could depend on how your bank processes purchases. I know mine does things differently depending on where it's purchased (how the store processes charges as well).

I don't know. I've got the email with my order number and all of that. I don't have the $25 credit yet. Maybe that won't be available until I get the tablet.

You get the credit after you activate the the N7.

1. Upon activating select new Nexus 7 tablet(s) and completing the tablet set-up process by registering your Google Wallet account, you will receive a one-time promotional balance associated with your Google Wallet account for up to $25 worth of movies, music, books or apps on Google Play.

I pre-ordered and then cancelled shortly thereafter as I got cold feet pre-ordering something that I've never got a chance to see for myself in person. Now I'm back on the fence as far as putting another pre-order in, lol.

My pre-order is no longer showing up on my credit card as a pending charge, but my order is still in process. So I guess it worked as it should. Should get charged when they ship.

My charge fell off my cc as well. I've been trying to read every site and watch every video I can to pass the time but man I feel as if I've read it all and just want it now! Haha oh well just a few more weeks and it shall be mine! *inserts evil invader zim laugh here*

What do you mean disappeared?

I mean it's gone from the list of charges in my account and also the amount is no longer deducted from my available balance. Which I don't understand. According to this I didn't think it was supposed to work that way.

Your card will be charged the full amount in a pending charge just to make sure there are funds in the account for the order. the money will not be taken out until the order is shipped. although it will stay pending in your account until it is shipped to make sure funds stay available.

My order has gone down like this:

Charged immediately after ordering.

Stayed as charged until yesterday.

Funds will be taken once order is shipped.

Is tying up funds for several weeks without taking it standard practise? It wouldn't surprise me if some banks deeded to cancel the hold on your money due to apparent inactivity, rather than google having canceled it themselves.

Showing as Completed on Google but is not showing on my last full credit card statement or unbilled recent transactions

Same here. It's gone from my check card now. Odd, though I'm sure it'll be right back on there in a couple weeks when it ships.

I guess it's difficult. They need to know there's money there before they ship the product so they hold the money until it has shipped.
They ask the bank 'is there enough money for this thing'
Bank says 'yeah sure, why'
Google goes 'oh, just this kid ordered something, but we're not sending it yet but we'd like to be sure the money is still there when we do'
Bank replies 'I can understand that, I'll leave it in the account in case they cancel, but make sure they don't withdraw it'
Google goes 'thanks'
We go 'what's the difference between taking the money and stopping me from using it?'
Bank says 'it's a legal thing, you wouldn't understand, by the way, you still have some money on your credit card. Just use that for a while.'

I probably got some of the technical terms wrong but that's basically what happens...

What are people trying to infer from the fact that funds are missing! I think it goes without saying that for debit cards the full amount is authorized and on credit card they authorize just a dollar. I got charged just one dollar on my card and that's it nothing really changed. If the thought is whether google is ready to ship the tablet, I don't think so in fact with the apple crazy train that happened with the galaxy nexus it might be really really long!

It can happen if you used a debit card, which is why I never use one.

Hey guys,

So basically, I paid with a debit card that is now no longer valid. The orginal payment went through (pending or whatever). However, it now has dissapeared from my account and I've got the money back (I know this is hapening to most). My bank has no record of any outgoing payment or pending payment to google etc.

So basically, will they still be able to charge me the full amount via the now invalid card (i.e. is the authorisation still open)? Been waiting on the phone to google for about an hour now and got nowhere :\

Cheers (I hope this makes sense!)

Can't really give you any advice as I think ringing up Google is your best course of action. I paid for two on my debit. I doesn't show a hold or transaction but the funds are not available (my ledger balance is greater than my available balance).

I'm only guessing, but no, I wouldn't have thought the pending charge is still valid if it's no longer on your statement. In my case, the funds did become available again after the pending charged disappeared.

I would update your card details in google wallet, the same place you can track your order, and then keep trying to contact them.

Thanks guys.

Finally got through to them, added my other card to google wallet and deleted the old one (which then told me doing so would affect my order).

Hoping the system will notice and pick up on the other one, which is the only card left in the wallet account now.

The dude on the phone said either it'll work or cancel, there's nothing I or he can do about it :\ So hoping for it to work - cannot stand waiting any longer :D

Hey there! Sounds like you may have resolved your issue; I really hope so.

I am going to merge this thread with another so your experience can be shared in one location. Hope that's coolio!
