I haven't figured out how to get to my places. Can you tell me how to do that. It's all there --- history, places, most recent -- just need to find where they are now listed/located.

You apparently haven't saved Places in Google Maps. It was listed as MY MAPS in your layers. This feature has been removed. I'm reverting to 6.14.4. Let me know when MY MAPS returns to Google Maps. They should not have released a new map until it was ready. I have numerous locations saved and I can't access them with this new "downgrade". The description you provided is just your history of searches. That person icon at the right side of the search bar ...

(starred places).I think I'll just use 6.14.4. I won't update until they repair google maps and My Maps is available.Well, I see that you've meant places saved in Google Maps on a browser (on PC etc.).
What I've meant is places saved in the app of Google Maps(stared places).
BTW, until Google will give back My Maps you might export your places from Maps (on the browser) as KML and import them as POI's in a GPS app.

You do know they do not recommend that you use it "on the fly"... that is a hazard as dangerous as texting while driving.
I guess "on the fly" is a misleading statement... I DO pull over each time I input a new address as I'm on residential streets when I change destinations. It still requires several additional steps to input addresses. THAT is my point.
