Root Have a brick, question about the next one.

Thanks to both of you....in not being able to take a screen shot like I normally do when trying to solve an issue like this, I guess I never described it correctly. Somebody else just posted this over in another thread I am following. I will try it out as soon as I get home from work!!! I really appreciate all the help + tips I'm getting guys (even if it doesn't pan out)!!

I hope not...just one question (so far)...if the ROM update isn't working from hboot, how would it work from recovery (I haven't watched the vids on the other thread yet, at work now)?

Because when you go into recovery on a phone rooted with Unrevoked, it opens Clockwork Mod. So you can place a Rom in the form of a zip on the card and then install using the "install zip from SD card" option. You don't need hboot recognition in that case and FWIW, the guy above that mentioned the lack of FAT32 formatting was probably right. Otherwise the RUU would have worked.

Even thought the IMG evidently isn't going to install, you may as well take it off the card while you're placing a Rom zip on the card.

OK...I think I see. I do know my card is FAT32 format, but I think I will use the one I used for root seeing as it is empty and it can't hurt to start fresh.

Did you flash back to the stock recovery? Now that I had a chance to read through all the posts again, I see that I missed a few clues you mentioned. If so, I'm kinda surprised it would recognize and apply that IMG but not the RUU.

I haven't used the stock recovery in a long time. Anybody know if there's an option to install zip from SD in the stock recovery menu?

It's been about 2 weeks since I used the stock recovery, but i believe it will only apply a signed update.zip from the root of the sdcard.

No problem, that's one of the reasons I come here.
