Having problems backing up jelly bean Rom?

I'm on the official jelly bean update, my phone is rooted and wanted to make a back up I tried it on Rom manager and on CWM and got this error

CWM- based Recovery v5.0.2.6
SD card space free: 87MB
There may not be enough free space to complete backup ... continuing....
Backing up boot space...
Backing up recovery image...
Backing up system...
Error while making a backup image of /system!

zz I would try updating your recovery. Either use ROM Manager to install the CWM recovery or download goomanager from the play store and use it to install TWRP. If you use goomanager, tap your menu key and select 'install OpenRecoveryScript'. Personally I love TWRP. It fast and easy to use.

After reading your post again, if you only have 87 meg space that is the problem. A backup takes over a gig of space.

I successfully backed up jelly bean rom using my phone storage, so I decided to revert back to my jelly bean jedi mind trick version 4. Now when I tried to go back to my jelly bean stock rom through rom manager and clockworkmod recovery it says that it's missing the md5 file?

I haven't used CWM in a while but I think it usually backs up to the sd card? Maybe its looking there for the backup. I don't know about using rom manager to back up. I just go straight to recovery.

my back up is in my phone storage wait if I go where my back up is and I made a file and named it md5 would it work?

No, MD5 is just something it generates when making the backup that it can check to see if the file is corrupted. So is it in a clockworkmod/backup file folder?

If your sure it is in a clockworkmod/backup folder I'm not sure there's anything you can do. Did you back it up with CWM or did you use rom manager?

I made a file and named it nandroid.md5 and it automaticity went to the CWM restore and then got this error

Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.3.1
Waiting for sd card to mount (20s)
SD Card mounted..
Verifying SD card marker...

/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM manager ro report the issue.

Are you trying to restore with ROM manager or CWM? I wouldn't use ROM manager for restoring or backing up. Can you move anything off your external SD card and move the backup you're trying to restore there to the clockworkmod/backup folder?

I learned long time ago - never use shell for important tasks as my corrupt the data. Using Rom Manager or 4ext apps for back-up, you are asking for trouble as is a shell program. Basically, whole Android is a shell program as it runs in virtual mode. I always tun it off and go to manual mode to minimize the risk of corruption, but even that, sometimes backup get corrupted. You can unmark the option for md5, but the rom may not work.
