Root Hboot .77 need some help

ok so I haven't messed with my Inc for a while. It has been deactivated for about 6 months or so. I had it rooted and running different roms. Well I unrooted it way back and now I want to re-root. Im on 2.1 update-1 yea pretty old. Well I used unrevoked to do it and noticed my Hboot is .77 and most of the new roms use .92 Hboot. How do I get that and what are some good stable roms out now?
 
I cant get it to take. I renamed it and just cleared storage and it still doesnt ask if i want to update
 
yep fat32 format twice. renamed it. I used a micro sd adapter to load the file on to the sd card so that I would put it on the phone's space. Idk. never had this issue before. I did just root it before trying this with unrevoked3 but my I still have S-OFF
 
Finally got it!!!!! I was like this is the last time im going to try before I say screw it and just activate the phone and get the OTA gingerbread. SO glad it worked. Now can someone just tell me what is a good stable Rom that has the 3.0 sense lockscreen. Like I said before I have been away from android for a while. THANKS for ALL of the HELP!!!!
 
well I thought I was in the clear but now my lock screen will not work. I cant slide the bar down to unlock the phone to activate it.
 
Im stuck. My slider will not work so I cant get passed the lockscreen to activate the phone. Every time I put it into recovery mode it updates the hboot, It shows that hboot is .92. Even with the sd card out It doesnt work. If I go to factory reset it takes me to my clockworkMod Recovery. What can I do?
 
If the problem was hboot you'd have worse issues than that.

Remove the hboot file from the sdcard, load on froyo and flash that. If you don't have a way to access the sdcard with an adapter on your computer go into clockwork, mounts and storage, and mount sdcard. You should be able to move it on that way.
 
I can pull the sd card out and use an adapter thats what Ive been doing. I removed the pm31img file and but on the OTA gingerbread rom and now Its just sitting at the htc incredible white screen for the last 8-10 minutes. Im downloading another pm31img file thats 130 some odd MB's I got off of unlockr. gonna see if that will work
 
I'd quit using img files. You have what you need already so place a rom onto the card, goto clockwork and wipe data/cache then load the Rom from the card.
 
OK so I found found one of my old roms that was saved on my laptop gingersense remix from a while ago. It says
android version 2.3.3
htc sense version 2.1
build # 4.01.605.0

It is working haven't actually activated my phone yet. So am I in the clear to download a newer rom or would this be ok
