Root Hboot & SD Partition

Hi All

First post here and fairly new to rooting. I have a HTC Desire GSM. Now I've managed to root the phone with s-off after trawling many forums. The reason being that there are so many variations of how to get to the end result.

Apologies if the following has already been asked but I couldnt find any straight forward guides/answers.

I've rooted using unrevoked and s-off using revolutionary.

Hboot:

I havent actively looked to flash a new hboot in the past and currently mine shows revolutionary at the top - i assume i still have the stock version?

It appears that flashing a new Hboot would gain me some more space internally due to the way it is partitioned is that correct?

In terms of how to flash the hboot I have read a number of guides all varying. Can someone tell me how to do it in the safest way - so far i have found android flasher, simply saving the .zip file to root and renaming to .img and then going into hboot and it will do the rest. I have then seen another method via android sdk. I'm not entirely sure how to use either but a guide on them would be great.

SD partitioning - I have done this previously by going into recovery with cwm and doing the partition - i assume this gives me ext2? However, if i flash a new rom do i need to re-partition each time and then recover data via titanium etc? The reason I ask is that I flashed miui all appeared to be working ok. I then flashed the insert coin rom and it was showing I only have 137mb internal memory free whereas i thought it would automatically use a2sd+?

I wanted to flash the cool 3d bliss rom to my htc desire but i couldnt find any instructions especially on how to gain the additional internal memory.

Not sure if all of this makes sense

Any help, greatly appreciated

Thanks
Manny

we cant help with specific roms, the info should be on the roms xda thread explaining the requirements.
as for the other questions.

Personally i urge everyone to read our fastboot/adb faq and understand how that works (as you will need it later no matter what people think)
safest way to flash hboot is by using fastboot.
under no circumstances do you rename the zip to an img file. if you flash that you will brick the device. the img is in the zip file (if you choose the pb99img.zip method)

so basically learn fastboot and use it to flash the hboot.

partitioning the card is done via gparted, its the best partitioning software available and is the only way we recommend.
again we have a guide on it and you should only have to do it once, not every time you change a rom.
