Root HBOOT?!?!

wow. thats a lot of testing. lol. Good Work!!! -- It was a much older version of Midnight. Probably last september
Thanks.

The reason I did it is because joe_blow said he was having problems with Midnight using the 1.50.5050 hboot and I wanted to figure out why.

BTW, when I searched the Midnight ROM thread for "hboot" to see what other people are using I found that joe_bloe isn't the only one having problems booting the 1.4.2 version and I think a lot of the users with boot issues have done the "fix everything" thread and have the ENG 1.04 hboot installed.

I needed the JBear 1.57 HBOOT to get MidnightS to not get stuck on the boot animation.

The JBear 1.50 says it's for GingerBread, is that a problem for JB ROMs?

No. JBear GB 1.50.5050 works fine with all the AOSP based ROM's I've tried. Actually, the ENG 1.04 hboot is much older and has a partition configuration that causes issues with the current releases of TWRP.

JBear 1.50 it is. Thanks for all your help BTW.

Doesn't work, I tried going to cm10 while on 1.57 and that failed, constant reboot. So I switched to 1.04 and it installed, but I have crazy problems with it, might be my kernel version, so I restored back to harmony, constant reboot. Had to go back to 1.57 to get my phone to boot harmony.

Fun learning curve for me.. phoneless for quite awhile today :)

Yes certain roms require certain hboots. 1.57 stock hboot is not compatible with CM.

When you had problems, had you done a full wipe and format before flashing? (aka clean install). Also you didn't restore any system apps or settings with titaniumbackup did you?

For anyone following this thread, both versions of the Midnight ROM have been updated to support the ENG 1.04 hboot. I'd be willing to bet that they also work with the JBear GB 1.50.5050 version, and any other hboot for the Evo 3D/V lower than 1.57.

Well I'm on the 1.04 hboot and I still bootlooped.

I'll try it again today on the 1.50 JBear GB 1.50.5050 version I guess.

If you're having bootloops on my rom, download the latest version, wipe EVVVERYYTHHINNNGGG (boot, system, data, cache, dalvik), then reinstall.

I did all the wipes except external. Is there a certain order you should be formatting? I.e., cache, delvik, system, factory reset? Etc etc? And no, I made sure to not restore anything.
Thanks

How do you guys accomplish changing hboots? I tried to do the wire trick to be s-off and it give me an error 66732337, which they said that I was not quick enough to apply the short. When I tried to install midnight rom with 4ext recovery and installed sucessfully after reboot all it did it went to the jbear menu. Then I tried other recovery cwm and still the same. Finally I installed twrp and jmzStock and it worked. However I tried to install another Hboot by placing it on the root directory of the sdcard and during fastboot it always said 1.57.

I have a thread here with all stock hboots in the second post. Instructions in the first post if you click "show". S-off is required though to be able to change hboots. Most people don't get the wire trick on the first try. After a failed attempt, it should reboot and ask you to try again. Just stick with it.

Tap *pause about 1.5-2 seconds* tap and hold.

Thankyou for the link. I did the S-off and every thing else a month ago but forgot how.:D
