Root HD ROM with WORKING camera

Sounds good. Still no problems?

I'm looking for a sense ROM to put on a friend of mines's desire (he's been running modaco R5 since day 1).

HD may just be the ticket, but as I don't want to support it constantly, I don't want it running anything other than apps2sd+ from his class 2 SD card.

I'm running the v4c version and other than the lack of 720p video recording it is truly faultless. Faster and smoother than any Rom I've ever tried (inc Stock UK Vodafone).

All HTCSense new features working, hibernate (boot in about 10secs) , loud ring in pocket etc.. and all HTCSense website dashboard features working e.g. phone GPS tracking, remote ring etc..

Reading XDADev this morning some seem to be having issues with the new RC1 version so I'd say V4c is probably the best one to go for right now as it includes trackpad wake (but not unlock) and Desire Z keyboard without arrows the DHD keyboard has.

Even battery life is very very good. Mine syncs all data from 8am-10pm over wi-fi/3g (Exchange push/Gmail/Twitter/FB), doesn't get switched off at night and I'm currently on 32% battery life with 24hrs since last charge. it used 2% last night while i slept....

Even installed the new Swype beta this morning with no issues...

Going by the RCMixHD thread, seems Data2SD isn't as good as first thought so if you are going to go for it you're better off going for the 'Old Fashioned' (as he put it) version using classic A2SD+. It's a seriously good ROM and I'd recommend anyone liking Sense ROMs to give it a go

It depends what implementation they went for. I assume it was really Data2EXT by Ownhere?

Anyway I had asked on the RCMixHD thread if the old fashioned rom itself runs completely from NAND (besides a2sd+). cause if it does, thats perfect.

Its a toss up between a HD rom and AuraxTsense8.1.4. I have sent him links and he can decide himself...

I don't think it does, even the ones that say they do still symlink to the EXT partition for a lot of the apps

RCMixHD has everything on the NAND bar the apps (and a few other things)

yeah its using data2ext rather than data2sd as its a simpler script that doesnt have to create any files and creat a loopback device.
i never trusted it though, too many sdcard bricks and random behaviour.
Ive not really be comfortable with any of ownheres work, i dont know half the shit he knows but i dont like how quickly he rushes stuff out and claims its better.

already his data2ext thread overshaddows the the data2sd thread and it causes problems. people think its data2sd as a whole.
you wouldnt get this issue with siberes method as both partitions are fat32 and the second one just holds a 1gb ext container.

Updated Data2Ext thanks to ownhere for that script *New
thats on the rmixHD main post

Yeah i did try a few other HDRoms inc...RCMix and ownhere's new HDrom but found that with my class4 card they were rather laggy...

Personally i wouldn't touch another Data2ext Rom with a bargepole....

The Baadnwz Rom is seriously good though...i won't be changing for a while (well not until a good G/Bread rom is out....:-) )

..and it FULLY runs from Nand, the only stuff running from SD are user installed apps on the A2SD+ partition. runs tight though. around 1.8mb free space on /system

Cheers for the input guys.

I do need as much from NAND as possible as he only has the stock class 2 4GB card. Its already partitoned 512MB for apps2sd+ as I did this when I rooted it.

I shall have to consider this closely.

the RCMixHD with A2SD+ on my 16GB class 2 card is fine, not tried the Data2SD/EXT as card is likely to bring it down and I don't really wanna brick the card!!!

How big is your partition?

I'm sure I can extend his a bit if it means being able to use RCMix

I'll be using Gparted I reckon. Alright Cheers Eddy. Your input is greatly appreciated, as always.

Love this rom but I'm getting random freezes for several seconds, occasionally my phone won't respond to touch, etc.

On the rom author's advice I flashed a different kernel he recommended which has improved the situation a lot but it still happens occasionally!

I'm going to try the baaaadnewz rom I think and if that isn't any better, going to go back to stock froyo. I'd rather have a responsive phone than the extra features.

Just flashed v0.14 and noticed it myself. Might go back to v0.12 (which was fine) and add the camera fix to it

Seriously try it...

I've yet to have any lag/lockup/freezing at all.

My phone was running v0.12 and it's fast and stable with coutts99 kernel.

I flashed v0.14b data2EXT got tons of FCs then I restored my v0.12 nandroid backup. Somehow something went wrong (I doubt it's EXT partition problem), my phone couldn't boot up, then SD card can't mount and follow by USB brick... It has been sent for repairing now.:(

I had v0.12 with camera fix however today after the update I applied the Z rom which is perfect and allows rosie to rotate :-) Camera also works and A2SD+ is configured not fussed about data2sd yet wait for a idiot proff method before I think about it and get a new card which isnt class 2

Back on v0.12 with camera fix and A2SD+ and I can't fault it. No lag at all

Cant blame you I have switched to the Z rom and it much more responsive and has all the same features of the HD plus it looks slightly more aligned as the HD just doesnt look right compared to the z
