Help HDMI inoperative on used MT

Velorex

Newbie
I picked up a used MT on Ebay everthing works OK except no HDMI output. Looking at the applications left over from the previous owner I noticed that it had some maybe leftover applications:
Terminal Emulator
TouchPal
SprintExtensionAddOn
FM Radio
Fallback
BTtools
Is it possible that maybe there is some file from Rooting,Cm7 or Muii that may have been installed that is keeping it from having HDMI output and how can I repair my unit to get HDMI back the way it stands. Any ideas? Thanks.

is your triumph running the stock rom or a CM7 or MIUI rom?

it is VERY easy to tell, they are completely different and if you know anything about Android as a platform you can tell them apart.

if its a CM7 rom, then yeah, HDMI doesnt work, same with MIUI.

if its the STOCK rom, try a factory reset.

if its an alternate froyo rom, thats not the stock rom, you will have to re flash a FRESH rom to the phone. you can search for these in the forums.

I believe bRom is a rom based on the stock rom that has everything working, including HDMI.

Just go into "settings>about phone" check to see if your software version is 2.2.2. If not then it was flashed with CM7 or MIUI. Another thing you can do is check if they have CWM on it, that would indicate they probably did flash something: 1. Power off your device 2. Press Power+Up&Down Volume 3. Hold all three buttons until you see CWM start up. If CWM doesn't show up get to work trying to flash stock to see if that fixes the issue, if it does show up, still get to work trying to flash stock.

Just a update, performed a factory reset but no change on the HDMI problem (possible cable problem?) but now when I went to the Market, GTA III does not show up as available game to download anymore. Also noted that I picked up near 100 meg of phone storage with the same identical apks loaded as before. No apparent change in size on the micro SD card. Any new thoughts on this? Thanks.

Check what version of Android you have on it. I am pretty sure you are running CM7 on the phone you bought, and HDMI does not work on that ROM. If you really need HDMI then you have to flash to stock ROM. The links for that are listed above. As well as some good posts to help you get that flashed.

Phone shows "Android version 2.2.2" and to answer idbl_fanatic the FM Radio and SprintExtensionAddOn icons are still there but show "0" storage and all other data is "0". All the original applications I listed in the original question are still there and also have "0" data as before. I can certainly live without the HDMI and I may wait until that problem is solved, if ever, on CM7 and MIUI. Still don't understand why GTA III does not show up on the Market so it sounds like to me something got changed when I performed the factory reset.

It may be best to wipe it and flash something clean and start from there. Pick whatever ROM you want and go from there. :D
