24....... YES! FULL HDMI MIRRORING!!!!

Now, the problem is the regular 3g speeds... anybody have a suggestion because I know y wife will complain about the 3g speeds I'm getting now. checked some internet speedtest site and am only getting 496KBPS on 3g, I mean really... it is taking up to 30 seconds to load google.com.... And sometimes it's just the Data Call Failure error...
Any suggestions so far? I don't have Wifi at my house so I need to fix this somehow... And yes I know, trying to stream on 3g is asking for aggrivation but the thing is that before all this I could stream netflixz just fine, although watching on the phone screen was a little irritating.

So maybe updated radios? What's the most up to date version these days?

Any other suggestions?

Thought I'd give the aftermath of the whole process...

Got back home, went to set up cable and tv.
I can really tell now what they mean about glitchy... had to start Hdmwin several times, but at least didn't get the cable unplugged error. Finally after playing with the settings I got the mirror working. YAY Netflix!
Yay my wife is happy!
One thing I noticed is that even though I did NOT select the option "keep screen on while mirroring" My screen did not shut off while mirroring. Luckily both the micro Hdmi and the usb both fit so I could have it plugged into the wall. Also For some reason after about 30 min or so while still fiddling around with settings and such, I noticed that the 3g was working fine. Don't know what happened but download speed are back up to 1.4Mbps, and 3g netflix streaming was working fine without any hangups.

After an hour or so, we took a bathroom and snack break. when we came back the screen was blank. Apparently when on pause, the screen time out kicks back in. Turned the screen back on, went back into Hdmwin and saw that mirroring was disabled again, clicked to start mirroring and got...
ERROR: Cable unplugged!
Really!:eek::confused::mad:
X'ed out of Hdmi, restarted, tried again... Same error. Close out, uninstalled hdmwin, reinstalled. tried again. ERROR: Cable unplugged!
Close out, uninstall hdmwin, Full reboot. Reinstall Hdmwin. Try again.....

..... nothing..... ......waiting as tv scren flashes....... nothing.

But I got that flash so I was hopeful. changed resolution to 800x600, tried again. Not Mirroring, but definately something, lots of screen tearing and random colors. Changed resolution back to what it had been (1200x7something) and tried again......

Success! Or so I thought. TV was mirroring the Hdmwin screen but it was frozen. phone worked fine but tv was frozen with the hdmwin screen on it. hit the Stop Mirroring button, and there was a flash and then the tv was mirroring fine. Deciding not to press my luck we kept on with the movie.

So... Definately a lot of glitchyness but Finally got it working ok. Now next step is to slowly start putting back my wifes stuff and hope that none of it breaks the newly working hdmi.

Thanks again to everybody's help! One of the reasons I tried to document all my failures so well was so that someday somebody else can read it and say "Damn that's my problem"... I know I've learned a lot that way. But some times it helps to have more info than: Rebooted - working now...

Thanks once again to everyone! And remember...

If you find yourself in a Fair Fight... Your tactics suck!

OK, Update #2....
Played around a little more today, getting some of my wife's stuff back on, when I thought, hey just for the hell of it, lets plug back into the big tv and see if it still reboots. So I tried it, first turning on the tv, selecting the hdmi input and then plugging in the phone while on the home screen.

No reboot.

Being fairly happy with that I figured why not try the mirror.... Just a black screen. But my TV wasn't giving the "no Signal" message on the screen so I figured lets beat the crap out of HDMwIn again...

So after about 30 min of uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing cache, wiping data, plugging and unplugging the phone, I got this sequence.

1. Uninstalled hdmwin
2. reboot (hot reboot)
3. reinstalled hdmwin from my Titanium Backup file, App Only no data
4. plugged in hdmi cable. cable is recognized in the status bar at the top.
5. started hdmwin changed display settings to 1200x720 with Fit-to-screen scaling.
6. In advanced options, checked max cpu speed while mirroring
7. on main screen selected landscape hdmi
8. clicked start mirroring. Nothing happens
9. click start and stop mirroring a few times, phone screen says Enabled but nothing on tv.
10. Go to Settings/apps/running apps/hdmwin and force close (sometimes I'd clear app data here too if I was frustrated)
11. go back to hdmwin and start mirroring again.
12. sometimes starts mirroring here. if not repeat steps 9-11
13. if after 3 or 4 force close attempts, (only happened to me once)
Repeat whole process.

After getting mirroring working ( YAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!)
went to netflix and noticed no sound playing through tv.

(At this point I should mention that once hdmi is working, I could play with the display settings while mirrored and it didn't seem to have any hangups, including messing with the banners, and oversampling rate.. I didn't try to change the resolution though)

14. By going to HdmWin/advanced/and clicking route sound through hdmi.
15. No sound - good video
16. back to hdmwin, uncheck route audio to hdmi
17. back to netflix - sound works through phone
18. back to hdmwin check the sound select again
19 back to netflix - no sound
20.back to phone sound - sound works

since I can plug a headphone adapter into my stereo system this isnt a problem in fact it's how I would have looked to run the sound anyway. But no amount of tinkering has been able to get sound through the hdmi on my big tv -- Sound comes through fine on the little one in the bedroom.

So there ya all go. I spent about an hour and a half re-running this sequence and with variations on how many times you have to force close or what not at some point this sequence has worked every time today on my big TV, and my 3g speeds have been fine too. I guess the initial slowness was just everything getting settled down.

Once again Thanx to everyone for all the help.

Ok... so after a week of playing around it seems that the sequence posted in #30 above is working pretty consistently. Only thing to add is : on the main hdmwin screen, you have to select portrait or landscape mode BEFORE you start mirroring. (Landscape for netflix)Every other setting can be changed on you are mirrored. Also if you are mirrored and and do a hot reboot, the mirroring keeps going and you can watch your boot sequence on tv!

Just wanted to give an update on my netflix mirroring story.

After reading a few scattered posts, I decided to take the jump for the new sense 3.0 mirroring,

Downloaded and flashed r3chargeD_RSL1ish
Downloaded and flashed Chopsuey9.2.7
rebooted and at the home screeen, with tv on selected hdmi port, plugged in Hdmi cable, and..........

FULL MIRRORING!!!!!

No messing with settings, not problems, no glitches.....
plug in the cable and it starts mirroring...
Only thing is that now the old HDMWIN app no longer works, meaning no chaging settings, and sound routs through HDMI cable automatically, no option to use the phone speaker, but I'm sure a new app will be coming soon.

THIS IS WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE HAD ON THE EVO LAUNCH!!!!!!

Thanks so much to teamWin for all the hard work they have done....
this is so much simpler and easier than the OLD way.... (um... I mean what I've been doing for 2 weeks...)

Plus... Loving the rom, seems fast and stable so far...
FINALLY!

Help. I have HTC EVO 4G CM7.2RC1 with savaged zen 2.2.1 CFS sbc kernel When I try to use hdmi4win, it says error: cable is unplugged whether or not I have the cable plugged in. what do I do?

I've used HDMI mirroring with mikg/anthrax and it's great. Plug and play. It couldn't be simpler. I have struggled with trying to use it on aosp
