Root Headset mic does not work, baseband related?

Hi sorry if this is an ignorant question, will "baseband unknown" affect the functionality of headset mic?

My Optimus V is fully functioning without a headset. But when connected to the stock headset, I hear audio alright but the mic does not work. Originally I thought the stock headset does not have mic, turns out it functions perfectly on other devices.

Specs:
LG-VM670
Android 2.3.3
Baseband version unknown
ascpCMod-OV-20110427
Build GRI40

I am hoping to find out if it's more like a hardware problem or because baseband was not flashed. Your help is greatly appreciated!! :bow: :bow: :bow: (Any safety cautions for solution are even better!)

If you are on Android 2.3.3, you are either running aospCMod or Zefie's CM7. I know the headset is borked on aospCMod, not sure about Zefie's.

Switching to a different ROM solved it immediately, thank you JerryScript!
