Root Helix Launcher2 .7beta2

Just tried it and getting force closes everytime I hit the home button... Went back to the the Beta version until it gets fixed...

hmm works fine for me. Might want to clear cache on beta2 before installing the new version

Oh yea... didn't think of that, let me try it out...

Hmmmm... still getting the same thing... gonna try to fix permissions and reboot...

I am looking for help on this too. All my apps disappear and i have the same buttons that were on the helix 1.

you will have to resetup your home screens with this and I am not sure what you mean by the same buttons. The main difference between this and helix 1 is 3d app drawer as well as a few other options.

I am curious... do you update without wiping data and cache? If so, have you ever cleaned your cache via an app from market?

I tried 5.0.5.7 a few days ago, and it was horrifically slow. So slow that I couldn't even get anything to load in less than 40 seconds. Finally restored to 5.0.5.4... wasn't much better. Downloaded cachecleaner (which took me about 5 minutes) and ran it. Freed 195mb of cache. It has run lightning fast ever since.

I bring this up because I often wonder when reading stories like yours... how many people update their ROMs without wiping data/cache like I always have and assume it is the launcher or some other part of the ROM causing the lag. Sure, it is totally possible that it was just an isolated incident with my phone, but it is still worth mentioning.

Also something else worth mentioning. How many of you guys are actually removing the other two launcher apps after you load Helix? There is a big discussion about this in another thread... if you don't remove it, you are making your phone run 3 launchers at the same time. Anyone who has removed the other two (myself included) arent seeing anywhere near the lag issues anymore.

I just wanted to +1 this post. I don't have any of the issues described with any of the 3d launchers anymore. I wipe everything when installing a new rom and use Cachemate every day, it clears at least 5 mb of cache a day. I also deleted Launcher2 and rename the Home launcher to Launcher.apk.bak so it no longer runs in the background either. The new Helix launcher has been running extremely well for me on Cyanogen.

The only issue I still run into is maybe once a day the text in the 3d draw will become off centered and I have to restart the Launcher. Doesn't happen very often though.
