In that case, I'm interested in giving you guys a file I saw on another forum that purports to reset the ODIN counter on the Galaxy Note. This is the file in question. After speaking with one of the dev's on the project, apparently what they did was a dump of an untouched Note, and compared it to one that had been flashed already, and then wrote the script that overwrites the "dirty" partition with the new.
I'm looking to try to set my Admire up as an AVD for the SDK, or find something that will allow me to pull the image and re-create the device as a virtual machine, so that I can test some of the theories I have on how to do it, but I'm no programmer, so I figured I would pass it on to the group who has outdone themselves time and again....

EDIT: It seems the fix is carrier specific. This is for an AT&T supported Note.

P.S. PUTU 2 kicks ASSSSSSS :P

My boss has one.... thing is insane :P Makes me jealous, but I'm too broke to afford the thing, and a plan to go with it, hence my reliance on the Admire :P
The dev, braway on XDA Dev board, and his beta tester mastibeta, seem to think that it could be ported, but do not care to do more than speculate. Personally, if I could get them to tell me how they even accessed that portion of the device, I'm almost positive I could figure out how to port it, provided I can get a virgin Admire to compare boot sectors to... But again, not a programmer. However, I'm willing to give anything a go.

This thread looks somewhat promising. I'm looking to try out the 900 mhz kernel/cwm that req made with admired monster 5.3, but I'm still not very experienced with this whole process. Is anyone willing to walk me through it on irc or something?

it you jump on the cm7 thread you can download the 900mhz kernel there. It should flash just fine over top on anything stock++ based. Play with it a little..try your luck on different roms. as long as you have a backup you shouldnt screw anything up.

repair shop? awesome maybe you can help me. im noobtastic to all this, basically i did the one-click root method to aquire root, started exploring files with root explorer and either changed(permissions and renemed)/deleted something i shouldnt have reguarding boot animations, or uninstalled something i shouldnt have via Ti-Backup...now im stuck in bootloop...have read and watched videos on using odin to flash clockworkmod recov, yet odindoes not show the yellow com box no matter which one i download or from what source. I have every samsung usb driver available installed, as well as every android usb driver installed. i know the connection works because it shows up with auto play and i am able to add/delete sd card files. so im wondering if there is a file or recovery i suppose that i can just put onto my sd card from my pc, and recover from that somehow? any help at all for this FNG would be appreciated!

wait u dont have cwm recovery installed? first if all we're all noobs at some point. do u still have stock recovery installed? do u remember wat u deleted or wat files permissions u messed with? im willing to help yu :)

download your needed files from the Rom gathering sticky. odin plus ops and cwm for admire. place your phone in download mode and use odin to install cwm. once in recovery you can place a Rom on the SD and flash it. if you need more detail just let me know.

edit...download mode...remove battery..replace battery and while holding camera button only plug in your usb cable. the phone should have a caution screen come up..simply press vol up. then use odin

yes i can still access stock recovery but doesnt seem to do anything still stuck in bootloop. basically i un-installed every metro apk, most google apk's except gmail, play store, and some samsung ones(nuance was the last) using titanium backup. while messing with root explorer i remounted in r/w mode and changed the names of the boot animation files in system/media and data/local trying to disable them, which worked, also for the shutdown vid and moved them to my sd card for safekeeping(lol)...then i put new boot ani files with video i liked, named them what the old ones were with same permissions. I also found the .ogg files that make the sounds for startup and shutdown and just changed the file extensions at the end to disable the sounds(did not move or replace), did same to disable camera shutter sounds...after changes i kept using phone for a few hrs with no problems(no reboot or restart either). i decided to shut off to see if changes worked and stuck in bootloop since then. so im not sure which action messed it up but thats what i get for hacking an operating system that im in the process of understanding(oops). friend gave me phone for free so im not too upset, however would be nice to have working again

not sure why or how, but after downloading the odin for the 12th time today, it finally worked and i have clockwork mod recovery installed. I allready have a zip for stock++ from requisite0 i was planning to use if i got this far, is this a good one to start off with or would u suggest otherwise? should i just move the zip file directly to sd card(not in one of the folders) or put into a folder?

Well since it says new ideas.. i'd like to see power widgets in the notification bar for future roms. I had it on cm7 on the ascend and it was pretty handy. Quicker than going all the way to wireless settings just to turn my wifi on

there's actually a widget in your smart tab. :)

I'll make this short, sweet and to the point.

The Admire section is merely one of over a hundred here at AF, and not anywhere near the top of the activity chart. Yet staff are having to spend a disproportionate amount of time dealing with behaviour that would frankly embarrass a class of pre-schoolers. To put it bluntly, it is becoming more work than is worthwhile. Other areas of the site are suffering because of it, and that is completely unacceptable.

Ample warnings have been given as to the behaviour expected of members here. Any continuation of the bickering and sniping that has gone before in this or any other thread will result in account suspension.

Above all, be nice, be civil, be respectful, be helpful, or be quiet.

Ignore this at your peril, as patience has run out.

Hey Aboatright, got an IRC channel yet?

Would be a great idea to get everyone together in a think-tank environment to discuss ideas, work on problems etc... I had something similar with my OpenZio development group. Much more was accomplished because we were right there at everyones fingertips if there was an issue, question or problem.
I'll take the liberty of setting one up on freenode if you like.

Let me know.

~Cheers

The ideas has been mentioned. I have just been waiting on someone to take the initiative to do it.
