First thing you need to do is unlock your bootloader. Go here and create a free account:
Welcome to HTCdev
Then either find the bootloader link or get to it from here:
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Find your phone in the the drop down list. If you have Boost Mobile, don't worry the Sprint one works just fine too, so use the one listed for Sprint. It's the only one there anyway.
Then carefully follow the instructions provided and you can unlock the boot loader. Then flash one of the custom roms here to get root.
