Hello! Pop Up Letters

Hello,

I am completely new to the Droid (got my first one today Droid X), and I was wondering if there is a simple way to turn off the pop up letters from the stock keyboard?

I've searched a bit online but came up with nothing, so I figured I'd psoe the question here.

Welcome to Android Forums! Unfortunately, you are stuck with pop up letters. There is no way to turn them off.

There is an option in keyboard settings called pop up on keypress. unchecking that got rid of them on my phone.

Auto Punctuate
Vibrate on Keypress
Sound on keypress
Auto-Capitalization
Voice Dictation
Prefered Dictionary Engine
Clear User Dictionary.

If you have not yet, check out swype. It is a lot faster than the multi touch keyboard

Make sure you do the tutorial!!

If the vibration bothers you as much as it does me: uncheck the 'Vibrate on keypress' in swype settings

Took me a while to remember how to do that on a stock phone

I'm actually rooted and have Apex 2.0 running. settings>language and keyboard> android keyboard settings> popup on keypress.

I have the same settings for android, gingerbread and swype keyboard settings.

Maybe it's something Fab put in the ROM?
