hey so i am upgrading from icraus mod 1.0 to 1.1
i kno what im doing and everything, and everything i did was step by step
i kno the first boot takes a while, its been bout 13 mins, what shud i do?
 
yoo, so i took out the sd card and i put it in computer, its ****ing ALL EMPTY, not a single file on it...
 
ok so i just removed sd card and i turned on, its working, i went to about phone, it said icaraus 1.1 so its good i gues..
 
Is everything running okay? Check the market and your MMS yet? If you are with Metro remember you've got to change the Access point. ^^.

I'm guessing you put it in a Windows computer. It will only recognize the Windows partition of the SD card. And you haven't put anything on it yet. It can't read the linux partition, linux (what Android is built on) can read and save both types of files.

I'm glad you got it up and running. :D

How much do you know about Linux OS? I know quite a bit about Windows but, Nothing about Linux. I really have to learn if I want to ever really get into actually making roms. X.x I know how to use C++ for a simple Windows program, But that's about it. :(

Some of the systems I work with run on linux so I can set up and operate a linux system. I work mainly with hardware. The last time I programmed anything was with Turbo Pascal almost 20 years ago. My graduation present from a VVVEEEERRRRRRYYYY well computer connected friend was a Fully Licensed copy of the latest (at that time) of Microsofts Visual C++. And yes my name was on the "list". Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at things) the U.S. Navy didn't allow me the time to learn how to use it. Sorry about the tangent.

Since you already know C++ you've got a good start for making roms. There are several websites about learning linux. There is a really good one that I use at work to refresh my memory when I need to, but I can't think of the address right now. It's one of my Favorites at work and I won't be back until Tuesday. I'll edit this post when I get back to work or if I remember before then.

You totally were not going on a tangent. I actually really like to hear/read about other peoples abilities and the story behind the person on the screen. So you were in the Navy huh? That's amazing that you were able to actually get the fully licensed version. At one point I think that was only given to people who were officially part of Microsoft. Was this around the time you got it? When you get back to work you can just send me a PM with that website okay?

Also, What are the major differences between Linux and Windows? Which one is easier in your honest opinion? Thanks!

About the C++ that may have been the case I don't know. But like I said my friend/mentor who gave it to me was very well connected. I actually held in my hand the only 2 8M SIMM cards in existence at that time. HP actually sent him their prototypes because they didn't have them out when they said they were going to (A couple memory factories burned down). I'm thinking about taking up programming again and checking to see if my license is still valid. If you're ever in Orlando with a few hours (or a couple days) to kill we can meet for coffee or a few drinks or something.

There are several differences between them. A major one is that Linux is open source (meaning everyone has access to the code and is free to modify it). At first Linux was mainly for computer nerds because it was all command line interface but it's rapidly gaining popularity (IT'S FREE) and several companies have developed GUI (Windows is a GUI for DOS) for it. Linux is inherently a much more secure system because it's based on Unix. And Linux is the operating system which Android is based on.

As far as which one is easier it all depends on what you are wanting to do with it. Like I said there are several companies with their own "flavor" of Linux. Each one was designed around different wants and needs, so you have to do a little research to figure out which one you want to use. They're all free so you can download different ones and see which one you like best.

This is only if your MMS is not sending. I was able to receive but, Not send. I had to apply this in order to get it working. Under Wireless networks there is the option Mobile networks. In that is Access Points. If you go in there you can add a new APN. ^^.
 
yea mms sending works too, everything looks good..i dont really get all these high tech terms, cud u just tell me in like normal words whats the MAIN difference between 1.0 and 1.1...and my access point is metro so iss coo

I don't want to flood the Icarus thread and this one seems on the right track for this question so...

I installed Icarus but I've got no keyboard
My ascend is rooted and i removed swype with titbu. Thinking this may be the problem.
Recovered back to "original" for now. Might flash stock and try again if no-one has any better ideas.

Can you put swype back on it? The only thing I can think of is to just go ahead and restore the stock keyboard and swype. If you can't do that, Then I'd think you might have to flash again. X.x

Try downloading the Icarus file again and flash with it. Maybe something got corrupted in your first download. If it happens again check your language and keyboard options in settings.

Nope, dumped it permanently a few weeks ago.
 
Oh, just remembered i had no browser and all the stock apps i had removed were gone and the ones i left were still on.
And is the metro wallpaper supposed to be on?
