Root Help! Cannot get into recovery

Im good w/ windows but needless to say a noob in the android os. I rooted my lg optimus v using gingerbreak. Here is the problem ive learned how to root and im sure I couldve done it manually if I took my time but I just decided after weeks of deliberation to go the gingerbreak route. I have rom manager, superuser, and androzip installed also. After the root and reboot I opened rom managerand flashed the clockwork mod recovery which was successful. Now heres where I got lost so PLEASE correct me! I will take any suggestions that I can since im new to this. I was following a tutorial in a seperate forum and the next step was to boot into recovery which can b done using rom manageror by holding home+vol down power. Well I did just that I clicked onto the recovery and then clicked aosp mod. Idk what happened but I saw the lg logo and then instead of it going into recovery mode, it stayed on a black screen. Now I let it sit for 20 mins at least and after waiting was forced to remove the battery and power back up. I kno you prolly already know what happened next right? Since I was trying to wipe cache and wipe delvik cache so after I started my phone back up it wiped everything. I was lucky that all I had to do was snyc mygmail so I got all my contacts back but I still dont know what to do or if its bricked. Ive tried to boot in recovery mode several times following the 1st attempt. I still get that black screen and im sure if I would let the black screen up for an hr still nothing would change. I still would have to remove my battery and risk losing everything again. Please any help would be greatly appreciated...all I was trying to do was install a new version of android. Android 2.3.4 to b exact. Btw sorry for such a long post and if its in the wrong area I just figured I needed to explain in as much detail as possible in order to get the correct solution. Please help and thanks.

First, get rid of ROM Manager. It is not fully supported for the V. The problem with your recovery is from using ROM Manager. It had the wrong driver to support the screen. Go look at the "Truth About ROM Manager" thread. Then, check out the IHO ROM thread for the correct recovery, and a current up to date and supported version of Cyanogenmod gingerbread.

You have no working ROM or recovery. Go here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-all-things-root/419080-truth-about-rom-manager.html there is a video as well.
Before you do this turn power of to phone. Take uSD card out and put it into a PC. Download the ROM.zip (and Gapps.zip if a Gingerbread ROM) and the recovery.img. Do Not Put the ROM, Gapps, or recovery in any folder. Keep the ROM (and Gapps if needed) zipped, and the recovery unzipped (if zipped it will have .zip on the end). Rename the recovery to: recovery.img so you will not make any mistakes on the linux code (if the name of the recovery is not typed in exactly as it appears on the uSD card you will get an error, include the .img on the end of the recovery). put the uSD card back in the phone and hold Home + Volume down , then the power button (all at the same time). Hold for 15 sec then let go. Plug your phone into the PC and run Droid@Screen.

Follow the ROM install procedure found here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...tory-reset-your-rooted-phone.html#post3263770 reboot the Rom A couple of times (power off/power on). Then go to the Market/Google play and download a terminal emulator and follow the install instructions for the recovery only (ROM Manager already properly installed a custom flash_image).

That should get you squared away. Any problems or questions ask here.
