Root Help! Can't get past HTC white screen!

I just tried to install a ROM, which i found was for the HTC incredible...NOT THE EVO!~.

I tried to install the erroneous ROM today, and it would not let me install. I got an error which makes sense.

I tried to restore my nandroid backups, and got errors too.

I tried to go back into recovery, and when I click that and I can't get into clockwork mod. It is stuck on the HTC white screen.

I am wondering if somehow my clockwork recovery mod got corrupted.

I did my root with unrEVOked method about a month ago.

Any suggestions? I am thinking if I could repair my clockwork mod that I may be OK. I think the erroneous ROM may have messed it up.

My screen says

THANKS!

can you get to hboot? can you boot up? if so to both, you are ok. start by downloading a custom recovery here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html. i would suggest that you use amon ra2.3. it is a much better recovery in my opinion. there is less room for error with amon ra. but your previous nandroids will not work with amon ra. once you have recovery up then you can flash a rom. or if you choose to go back to cwm then you can try and restore a backup.

When I power off and turn my phone on and hold the volume I get into the hboot screen. I scroll down to recovery and it gets stuck in the white HTC EVO screen ... is that what you mean?

I may stick with clockwork for now, cuz all the stuff I have is backed up and I am a physician and I really need these things.

So..am I OK?

Thanks

Mike

Go here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html and download the PC36IMG file for CWM 2.6.0.1

Follow the instructions there to get your recovery reflashed. You should be able to try and restore a nandroid after that.

edit: Ocn beat me too it :)

edit; ok so did you flash anything or did you try to install recovery? what did you do to get those errors?

ok so download the file (clockwork mod 2.6) to your computer. if you have a card reader or someone who has an evo.
1.rename the file to PC36IMG. basically erase everything in the name but PC36IMG. do not add a ".zip" as windows hides extensions.
2.transfer the file on to the root of your card(not in any folder)
3.power off then press and hold power+vol down
4.hboot will scan for the file
5.if it is named correctly and placed on the root of the card then hboot will see it
6.select yes to update and it should do it thing
and now you should have a working recovery. hopefully from there you will get your phone up and running.

OK. I had no problems...thank god...following the steps as stated, and I flashed Myn Warm 2.2. Thankfully I was able to start over BUT I can't perform a Nandroid backup.

I tried to do the restore two different Nandroid backups right after I tried to flash the wrong ROM.

When I got the error for the ROM that was meant to be for an Incredible, I tried to flash two backup nandroids, and I got errors for them too.
I pulled the battery and that is when I ran into the trouble of the corrupted clockwork mod ROM.

I was able to reflash the Clockwork Mod Rom (thankfully with the help above) and reflash the MYN 2.2 Warm ROM.

When I reboot back into recovery, I see my clockwork options just like before, but when I go to backup and restore...restore...and try to restore the nandroid backup, I get the same errors and before and have to flash my clockwork Mod again.

Could it possible that I have corrupted my nandroid backup files?

Any suggestions?

I hope that I have made this clear. Thanks for eveyone's help!

Mike

+1 to amon ra 2.3. i have had and seen issues with clockwork mod. i never ever hear anything when it comes to amon ra. sounds like your nandroid might be corrupt. like 9to5 said try amon ra2.3 almost fail proof in my opinion.

I tried to go back and flash the original ROM that I wanted to flash before.
So..to do so, I did a data/factor restore wipe...and it went through it's thing and said that no app2sd partion found. Skipping format of /sd-ext.
Formatting SDcard:/.android.secure...
Data wipe complete

THEN I tried to wipe my dalvic Cache..
I get
E:Can't mount/dev/block/mmcb1k0p2
(file exisits)

I tried to install the new ROM...it installed just fine, but it goes to the withe start up screen, turns off and buzzes and turns back on to the white start up screen over and over...

HELP!

you need to wipe dalvik cache and cache as well. try again. that is the thing with clockwork mod, it never wipes very well. so try again and if that does not work then i would really recommend that you switch recoveries to amon ra2.3

well, I have changed to Supersonic Amon RA, wiped cache, Dalvek cache, data and android security..still no luck

i installed this same rom a few nights ago and didn't have to change anything. just installed and ran it! Restored back to my Myn warm 2.2 so I could do a titanium backup and get all my apps up to date to bring over to the new rom...erroneously thought that they updated the ROM and flashed the wrong one for the incredible.

HELP

so have you tried and flash a new rom? and how long did you wait? sometimes it takes 10-15 minutes for it to bootup after wiping and flashing as it has to buildup dalvik cache. and what rom did you tried to flash?

I tried to install the new Myn/Virus SYNERGY ROM.

I installed it a few nights ago, and it didn't turn the phone off and on on the white screen..at least I don't think it did.

I went back to my nandroid to make a Titanium backup.
Flashed the wrong ROM for the incredible...

That is when my problems began...so you are saying that it may turn itself off and on for 10-15 minutes..it is like in a loop of booting up..white screen..off and booting up again?

I just got back from 10 days in LA...Love it out there...miserable traffic.
Thanks!

bootlooping is not good so lets try this:

try wiping the crap out of the phone. wipe dalvik cache, cache, and system 4-5 times. also grab this file:MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service. just flash this like you would a rom. this wipes all of your cache and temp files as well as cache, dalvik cache, and system and does it three times. after the wiping is done then try and re-flash your rom.

I am SO FRUSTRATED

Here is what I did.
I put my card into a reader, copied it to my laptop.
I put it in my phone, and went to menu, settings, SD card and unmounted it and clicked FORMAT. I even did an error check on the SD card while on my laptop and it was fine.

I took out OUT of the phone, and used windows 7 to format it again...wiping the card completely clean. I then put a copy of the Synergy RC1 ROM that DID work in the past for me back on, along with FORMAT_ALL.ZIP.

I put the card back into the phone. Booted into recovery and went to WIPE
I wiped EVERYTHING on there except for the WIPE SD CARD and the wipe the battery stats and the rotation thing.

When I wipe the Dalvik Cache..it says Skipping Format SDEXT:dalvek-cache,
DALVIC-CACHE: WIPE COMPLETE...does that mean something?

I then flashed the FORMAT_All.ZIP

I did even try the program called superwipe.

I then flashed the ROM that worked before and AS BEFORE...it got stuck installing at about 1/3 of the way (the status bar does NOT get past the V of VIRUS..). It then goes right to saying that it was complete, and I go to REBOOT.

It goes to the white screen, shows the HTC logo, turns off, and buzzes and turns back on again over and over. I guess this is called boot looping

What am I doing wrong?
Is there ANY HOPE???? I know you guys said not to worry, but I am really getting kind of bummed out over this!

Thanks

Mike

Hmm.. weird. The SD. ext is for partitioned SD cards, so that should be skipped if your sd card isn't partitioned.

How about trying a different download of that rom or a different rom all together?
