Help - Can't use SD card

Dohjo

Lurker
Yesterday my phone started to act weird. First it said the SD card got removed abrupt - which it didn't. Now it recognizes the SD card, I can see the amount of space etc. when I go to settings, but I can't use apps on the phone. Whats wrong? Considering a format, so I'm copying all stuff on it, which I can access on the pc.

I don't see to be able to format it through the phone. I don't know wtf is up

It's a desire s btw

Welcome to Android Forums, Dohjo. :)

Unfortunately MicroSD cards were never designed for the rigors of the read/write stress of running apps. They are primarily a temporary storage medium. Running apps from an SD card can significantly shorten its life, which is what sounds like you're experiencing.

There have also been some quality issues with MicroSD cards from marginal performance to outright misrepresentation of speed or capacity. I'd look at replacing yours with a brand name card from a reputable source (and even that is no guarantee.)

A re-format might get you working again, but it would be my guess that it would fail again relatively soon.

Which launcher?

Well, since my Optimus S is now a prehistoric droid, I still use a suitably prehistoric... Launcher Pro. Still gets good reviews, even though it hasn’t been updated in years.
