Root HELP - Every time I send a text, signal dies.

So simply live with it..? Because it drives me insane and would love to not have to deal with it.

I do believe that text doesn't need data to function... I can in-fact, turn off my data and still send and receive texts.. If we really want to get technical, even what we see from our eyes is "data" and it is processed in our brain system. The data that I was talking about had to do with phones, and what most people call "data" on their phones is the feature that allows them to connect to the internet. Or send an mms.
Android has the ability to send sms though 3g as well, but for some reason it doesn't seem to like it on these. It's probable that there is a way to deal with it and correct it, but I have yet to see it.

If you want to get to the bottom of it, install the RUU, then the OTA and see if it continues.

You will have to re-root first.

Great :/ I'm on a mac. The commands aren't the same as the tutorials and I'm not sure of the commands. It took me 4 hours to root it last time on someones windows machine because of all the downloads and such.

Give me a day or two, I'm working on a workaround for people.

This problem has been there since stock and only now you guys notice it :/

I still have it on aokp, except sense would take like 25 seconds to go back to 3G while aokp only takes like 10 seconds.

Wondering if you've found a workaround? :)
There might not be one, after some further reading what I believe is happening is that voice and texts use the 1x/rtt radio, you've said that you don't believe that text messages use a data connection but in reality everything on the phone including voice is actually data it's just that we use a common misname by calling that the cellular radio. So at any rate wether you're talking or texting the phone switches of the 3G radio and utilizes the 1x/rtt radio, when that's finished the device then reestablishes the 3G connection, this is why your data dies when texting. The only simultaneous network connection that we can use on this phone is the 1x/rtt radio and the 4G WiMax radio. Can't use the 1x/rtt and 3G at the same time. And that's because WiMax has it's own chip while the 3G and 1x connections are onboard the same chip so you can't enable both radios on a single chip at the same time.

No, my initial idea will not work.

If you want to fix it, either flash the RUU, or s-off.

Nothing will fix the radio dying on sending a text though, it's just how the system works. It might work on official tether, but without using the official tether, there is nothing forcing the system to stay connected so it uses it's default method for sending it.
