Root Help Flashing MikG + Aggressive Freedom Kernel

n0tmike

Newbie
Ok, so I'm new to root; like 24hrs new. I rooted a previous phone, but it was WAY less involved than this has been. Although, so far, its been a pretty straightforward process I am a little hesitant for this ROM/Kernel business.

I have a Sprint Evo 4G running 2.3.3. I rooted using Revolutionary and Clockwork, but have since flashed Amon Ra 2.3.

I want to flash MikG and Aggressive Freedom. (I keep hearing good things.)
1st Question: Is MikG v2.59 the one I want?

The files/links I am looking at using to do this are:

I plan on following the instruction in the ROOTING For Dummies Guide... the Gingerbread Edition under the section "Flashing Guide How to's (thanx argedion)"

Question #2: Is there anything I'm missing?
Question #3: When it says wipe dalvik cache, cache, data, etc... where do I do this, and how do I specify specific wipes?

Thanks guys, hope I haven't been TOO much... just don't need a brick right now. :)

Looks like you have everything you need, although I believe mikG is updated to 2.61 now so you may want to go with that. In Amon Ra there is a Wipe option in the main menu, select that and then you can wipe everything separately. I usually wipe each 3x and then flash superwipe, but that may be overkill.

I just flashed these yesterday, you wont be disappointed. To get the 2.61, you will need to register at the mik forums ( on my phone so i cant link). Just find the downloads section for the evo and I'm sure you'll find it.

As for the wiping, you will do this when you boot into recovery. There's a good guide to flashing in the all things root section. I beleive its linked in the rooting for dumies guide too.

You don't even have to register.

MikG v2.61 - [11/23/2011))

Download that file and the aggressive freedom universal kernel from the rom & download sticky.

Backup whatever apps you cant live without with titanium backup

Reboot into a recovery and make a nandroid. After completion of the nandroid wipe everything except for your SD card at least once and then flash the Superwipe file found in the ROM & Kernel download sticky. Following completion of that flash MikG2.61 and then Flash Aggressive freedom.

Reboot.

Enjoy
