Root help get a dev unit to a dev

we cant really ask pg to go scouring ebay and get into a bidding war lol. we ask enough of him as it is, as far as buy it now those are our two best options on ebay. but yea whatever you guys wanna do if you can make it happen get er done, i have no money so i cant really do anything to help, i can only make suggestions of how to make it work the deed has to be done by others i take no real active role in this

I'd rather get the one with a bad esn and a good screen.

No point in getting a dev a phone if he still can't test on it without fixing it. Also, the one with the good screen is probably still cheaper than buying the one with the smashed screen and fixing the screen.

I'm in. I can do anything but PayPal, really. (And PayPal if I have to, I just have to get an account setup.)

If you're in a bidding war on ebay you're doing it wrong ;)

i feel like this is too good to be true,

Tested Boost Mobile ZTE Sequent with Clean ESN | eBay

I saw that one too, and thought the same.

It's at $36.00, now, and there's 3 days left in the auction for it and 13 bid's (currently).

While the "buy it now price" at $49.00 with no bids at all on it, (and bad ESN), could be bought, it's got that bad ESN. No big deal?

I'm willing to make a, bid of $50 or $55.00 on the 3 days left, $36.00 Sequent. The, phone, works, has a good ESN, and the screen isn't ruined. Or that idea can go to our power E-Bay seller, bhays3, who's already willing to make the purchase. Either is OK with me. In either case there's now two people willing to act on this.

If it win's, maybe I can have IT sent to PG's address.

If it doesn't win there's 5 day's, (2 at that point), to buy the $49.00 with the Bad ESN.

In either case I get to do my part here, and add to my 100% rating on E-Bay, (always a good idea).

Than those that are willing, can pay me the amounts they want to, to do their part.

Hopefully we shoot for a balanced equal amount, spread over the number who are willing to donate, so one guy doesn't take the bullet on this, (me).

When done with, it can be sold back on E-BAY perhaps, or PG can frame it and hang it on his wall as a memento of his glorious youth in service to his fellow smartphone owners.

Also I found another, 3 days left, has 3 bid's, and $22.00, currently, and very little actual information, only that it's working, no "buy it now" price.

Same thing for this one, bid $50, or $55.00, and see what happens, still with two days left in the $49.00 with bad ESN auction.

the bad esn one isnt an auction though. and i know how ebay works, its a bidding war that only lasts for about 2 minutes, you gotta watch the thing and have a max price in mind then bid at the last second. thats what everyone is gonna do and considering that thing still has 3 days itll probably go up significantly though i cant say for sure. like i said though im only offering suggestions

also, bad esn is not a factor. pg doesnt have a boost account so he couldnt activate it anyhow. just keep that in mind. getting one with a good esn would kinda just be a waste

Like I said, I'm definitely in. Willing to throw a $20 on it.

Just need someone to take charge and get this ball rolling.

On E-Bay, you set your max bid, and forget about it, till 1 minute AFTER the auctions closes. The bidding is incremental, and no one know's your maximum till, your out bid, and fall off the current bidders list.

Your notified, (e-mail) your the winner, than you deal with the seller.
Or, your told, sorry, you've been outbid.

The POSSIBILITY of being the winning bidder, is what I was talking about. The maybe... or the what if, getting factored in. Not having checked any winning bids on these phones, I have no idea at all what to expect they are selling for. Might be $85.00 or $100.00 for all I know. Maybe someone could research that.

Where people lose their perspective, and up their bid, and their pride get's hooked, they bid to win, adrenalin takes the place of reasoning, than they win a phone, for TWICE what they promised themselves they could live with, and they can't eat next week.

I'd like to see people who were interested in this idea weigh in with their thoughts (and money).

if you bid now though and someone else wanted it all theyd have to do is bid $56 and you lose... if you wait till the last minute and let everyone else low ball it first you might get lucky

basically, if you bid too early people have 3 days to outbid you, if you wait they have 3 seconds...

Sorry, my bedtime, is mostly fixed, while lot's of you guy's are night owls.

That's the "gamble" on this type of auction. I'm not saying that is the thing that should be done here. Your first instinct may be the way to go, secure the one $49. with a buy it now, for this purpose, while my wading in to the discussion, was to bring, my own "style", or how I would go about doing an E-Bay auction, where I would know going in, that I have to bid "this much", and remain clear, that I can let go of the outcome.

Two different approaches.

That's why I'm hoping for an influx of interest, from the community following this thread. What is the consensus about the purchase of a Sequent, to get to Playful God?

1) Get it over with?
2) Or, gamble on getting a "better deal", a fully functioning phone?

theres risk involved either way really. one isnt necessarily better than the other. you get the buy it now you risk paying more, you go for the bidding, you risk losing and having the $49 one already gone

Hey say do the buy it now one for $50...we are having a hard enough time getting the money collected and getting this done...mind as well pay 50 bucks and hopefully get some good development....lets figure out away to get a pool of money going first then lets buy something

When it's community money being spent, (theoretically and morally), than the majority ought to make the decision.

Where if it was me alone, I'd gamble, (since I see value in a phone that could conceivably be re-sold, or kept as a back-up, if my own fell in a 75 foot well, or got stepped on. That wouldn't actually be the case than with P.G. owning the phone, he could do whatever he want's to with this, while we "investor's" are each glad we invested, knowing we all stand to gain.

So, let's hear from you guy's, what phone do you want to spend YOUR money on, and when would you like to see this purchase wrapped up, and a ZTE Warp Sequent in P.G.'s mail box?

Lets get the one with a good screen/bad esn A.S.A.P.

I can cover up to $20, which means you guys gotta come up with the rest. Shouldn't be too hard, its only another $35-45.

Really, I can cover more, but I want others to contribute also.

Bobdamnit, Thanks for your comment. Let me know if the latest $39. cracked screen makes any difference to that decision.

Also, the re-paying of anyone's initial purchase, should be spread out over a willing community. That's determined by those who respond. If, there's and absolute LACK, of anyone else weighing in to this with opinion's and idea's, and offer's of their money, than THAT is the community response!

Than, they will be saying, (in affect) good luck with all that, let me know how it work's out. And they stand to benefit, with no cost to themselves, (which might be the "secret hope" anyway). :)

Than it would amount to you and I, (perhaps one other) carrying this entire amount ourselves. While that may end up being the case, ... than the outcome might easily be simmering resentment and so-on, which isn't anything I absolutely need more of.

So, again, I'd like to hear from those interested, willing to participate, and who will follow up, even if it means putting their $1./3./5./ or $10.00 cash money in an envelope, and trust the mail to get the "buyer" the equitable re-reimbursement of his initial outlay.

Best to continue in the open manner already occurring, and to go on record here, say what you will be willing to spend, which phone you want, when you want the phone purchased etc.

No, it doesn't affect my decision. I would rather give PG a phone with a working screen, otherwise how is he going to test things out without replacing the screen?

I won't resent anyone that doesn't want to or can't afford to help. I'm willing to foot the bill myself, if it comes to that, and I won't take it out on anyone or lord it over their heads. Lord knows I've gotten plenty of free development from developers (thanks PG, bobZhome, and many others!) without contributing zilch.

you know seeing all this discussion going on I shoulda went with my gut and bought the one that we originally found for $35 before it was gone ...lol

I've got to role out of here for the day so, ... when there's what looks like the consensus of any number to get phone X, (looks, like the $49.00 buy it now), I'm willing to go get it. That will be early evening when I'm back here though.

Sort of like throwing the ingredients into a crock-pot, and have it ready, later on, from my end.

Later.

OK, then. We'll call you the guy that's buying the phone and making sure it gets to whomever is getting it.

How do you want those interested in contributing to send in contributions? PayPal, BitCoin, cash in the mail?

All I'm good with is Paypal, or cash in the mail.

And PM is how I'll need to get P.G.s, address (before I buy the $49.00).

PM, for my address, when the dust settles.

Thanks.
