Try this first..boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot.

Root HELP!! Had to factory reset my rooted HTC Evo

nope still doing the same thing
just wipe dalvik cache and cache again and re-flash your rom.....do not wipe data. it should return everything back without loosing data. you can then make a nandroid backup.

by re-flash do you mean flash zip from sd card
yes. just flash the same rom that you are currently on. only wipe dalvik cache and cache and the flash the rom file again that is on your sd card.

ok so i did that and still the screen goes nuts.. i think maybe ive dropped it too many time ?? lol
well the last thing you can try is to do a full wipe and either flash the same rom or try something different.

Just made an account specifically to thank you Mikestony. My son was given an old phone from a family member to use as a "mini tablet" and I didn't know it was rooted. I factory reset it and got it in the same state as the OP. Your instructions were perfect, just what I needed. It works perfectly now. Thanks! Now I'm eyeing my EVO 4G LTE and wondering if I can root it to get the Bluetooth working again. . . .

Basically, this is what we are going to do. We will install a recovery (called AmonRA). Then we will flash a rom to get your phone working.

I was just wet behind the ears when I first met him here and he has taught me so much about this device
