Is there a stock fI22 rom for download? In case I need to go back to stock for whatever reason.

Also. I noticed another rom called aokp, so is that usable on boost sgs2 phones as well as agat?

Two things:
I looked around and found a stock FI22 rom but they all link to xda fourums, and the link from there is either having issues or I'd down. Does anyone have stock FI22 rom they can link please?

As for the roms, I know you need cwm or agat recovery. I read that someone was having problems getting cwm installed because agat kept overwriting cwm.....has anyone found a fix or workaround for this issue?

I am really itching to root so as far as I can tell these are the only 2 things holding me back right now

[DO NOT FLASH FROM AGATS, SLESHPICS OR RUJULEUS RECOVERY!]

if youd like i could dreate a tutorial on how to do so
That would be great, you got my vote.

Ok, I'm a bit confused now.
I have Odin installed. I have su on the root of the sd card, I have kies installed and it recognizes my phone. All that is left is agat and I am assuming its a rom. So if that's true and it does indeed have its own recovery and not cwm, how do you simply root only the phone without having to use agat?

I'm still fairly new to the whole root thing, although I have done it before, once with Odin, and twice with a zip and cwm, three different phones.

As for the FI22 stock file, the site is down :(.........that's why I was asking if someone else that has it could host it and post a link here.

Update:
I noticed it's not a rom but a kernal.

If im correct in understanding this root stuff, you can use the kernal and then flash whatever rom you decided to use, this is of course assuming the kernal use cwm and not agat. Please correct me if I am getting this mixed up.

Im still pretty new to android myself. (someone correct me if im wrong)

Here is the link to FI22 unrooted
http://rwilco12.androidfilehost.com...BST.FI22_CL981989_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5

Here is a description of what everything means.

  • Samsung Kies = Default Samsung pc app for for driver and backing up phone.
  • Odin = used to flash the Samsung Galaxy roms/kernels
  • Superuser = On many computer operating systems, the superuser, or root, is a special user account used for system administration..
  • AGAT = recovery Kernel
  • GB,ICS & JB= Roms
  • AOKP, AOSP AoSP = Custom user made roms.

As for flashing AGAT. I think you need to flash the AGAT recovery kernel with odin so when you go into recovery mode you can install the superuser file.

That site is coming up as a bunch of text. I'm on my phone and not at home so I am downloading the files to my phone. Is there a way to save that link as a tar file?

Using boat browser.

Update:
I saved as and it showed as an md5 file.
It looks like it's downloading as a txt file, I'm guessing it will rename it to md5 when it gets done.

Just to clear this up, agat is a kernel with recovery baked in. Seems for this phone this is pretty common to have kernels include the recover file as well. Agats kernels tend to be only for flashing stock based ROMs and most kernels that have cwm baked in tend to be for aosp and aokp ROMs. In order to flash any of the CM ROMs or Aosp/aokp you'll have to use clock work mod recovery .

Can someone verify that this file is good and not just a checksum file.
I was curious and looked up what an md5 file was. It says that these files are checksum files, which would mean that this file is not an actual tar file.

I just what to verify that it is indeed a working file before doing anything.

I have renamed it to.tar, but I'm afraid it's just a checksum file.

I guess I won't be rooting tomorrow after all if this is a checksum file, sadly :(

That's kinda the conclusion I came to a well.

I'm not exactly smart enough to root from FI22 just yet, that and the fact the only FI22 stock kernal the link is down, so looks like I'm waiting to root once again. I was getting so excited to.
